Possible SPOILERS for returns or debuts on tonight’s SmackDown

WWE is closing out their big first week of 2024 tonight (Jan. 5) with a “New Year’s Revolution” edition of SmackDown from Vancouver, British Columbia’s Rogers Centre.

There are several major angles on the card — namely the ones which will tell us who Roman Reigns and Logan Paul will be facing at Royal Rumble later this month. But PWInsider brings us word of a couple surprises that could be coming our way outside the LA Knight, Randy Orton & AJ Styles’ Triple Threat to determine the next Universal title challenger and Kevin Owens vs. Santos Escobar in the United States Championship #1 Contenders Tournament Final...

First off, Butch needs a partner for his match against Pretty Deadly. And while neither possibility has been spotted in Vancouver just yet, Insider says the expectation backstage is that the former Pete Dunne will be reuniting with someone. The two names “that have bounced around among talents this week” are a returning Sheamus or the debuting Tyler Bate.

Brawling Brute Sheamus has been out since he wrestled in Adam “Edge” Copeland’s final WWE match last August, reportedly due to a shoulder injury. Bate’s possible call-up showed up in rumor reports last month. Like his old British Strong Style mate Butch, Bate is extremely talented but on the small side. But that’s believed to be less of an issue now that Triple H has the book.

Someone who has been spotted in Vancouver today is Paul Ellering. It’s been reported that WWE would again pair the Hall of Fame manager with Authors of Pain, and it looked like Ellering was with Akam & Rezar when AoP’s return was teased during a Karrion Kross vignette on the Dec. 22 episode of SmackDown. So we could be getting some advancement there tonight.

Let us know how possible you think these possible spoilers are, and what you’d think it they happen, in the comments below. Then join us in our live blog at 8pm tonight, and we’ll find out if they become reality together.
