Triple H is using Tony Khan’s gimmick again

WWE’s head of creative will make a ‘major announcement’ on the company’s streaming 2024 Preview Special this Thursday.

When wrestling fans (at least the ones who are probably too online for their own good, like yours truly) hear that a company executive is going to make a “major announcement”, our first thought is likely of Tony Khan. The AEW head honcho has promoted so many of his announcements that way, even his own employees make jokes about them.

But WWE Chief Creative Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque can announce major things, too. Lately, he puts a different spin on it, like when his “special appearance” on the Oct. 13 SmackDown involved appointing Nick Aldis as the blue brand’s General Manager. Or the tease of a former WWE champion on Raw’s Day 1 special last night (Jan. 1), which turned out to be some guy named Dwayne who used to have a sitcom.

For the Peacock’s Preview Special 2024, The Game isn’t playing games. Haitch is flat out promising a “major announcement” on Thurs., Jan. 4’s addition to WWE’s “New Year’s Knockout Week” line-up... at least according to how Michael Cole promoted the Special on Raw.

It also seems we’ll see CM Punk on that show before he returns to Raw next Monday (Jan. 8)...

Make your predictions now for Triple’s H big news. We’ll also take prop bets on whether or not it will involve a ticket on-sale date.
