WWE RAW RESULTS AND LIVE BLOG FOR JAN. 15

There’s no cause to start and scream, nor rub your eyes— this is no dream. Although I sit upon this chair, I’m here to liveblog this pro wrestling show for you, folks.

The show opens with our annual Martin Luther King, Jr. video package.

The show opens with footage of Seth Rollins and Jinder Mahal arriving at the arena ahead of their World Heavyweight Championship match tonight.

Cody Rhodes makes his entrance and gets on the mic.

Before he can say much of anything—

Enter Drew McIntyre.

He acknowledges their history and similar career paths and says he’s proud of him and how far they’ve both come. He reminds Cody of their tag title reign as the Dashing Ones and then talks about how they left the company created a blueprint for wrestlers to become so undeniable WWE calls them back.

And Drew’s last match before returning to WWE was against Cody, and Cody told him after that match that he was a future world champion, and he did it twice. He tells Rhodes that he believes that he, too, will raise that title over his head and finish his story... but not before McIntyre finishes his.

Cody says of course Drew could win the Royal Rumble, but so could Jey Uso or CM Punk. Drew offers some advice and tells him to just be himself and let go of the suits and the thesaurus words and the big dumb smile. Cody says it’s no act, he smiles because he comes out here and does the thing he loves.

There are many similarities between them but the main difference, Cody says, is that he relishes his second chance while Drew is standing here complaining. McIntyre calls him a politician and so forth, Rhodes says he doesn’t look to Drew to figure out how he’s doing, he looks in the ring and to the crowd.

If McIntyre wants something to complain about he’ll give him more to complain about, and he wants to keep talking about the last match they had, well who won? (It was, true believers, Cody Rhodes over in 20:02 on April 30, 2017, for WCPW in Coventry, England. Thanks, Cagematch!)

Backstage, Damian Priest confronts R-Truth over selling bootleg Judgment Day merch, Truth gives him a wad of cash as “his cut” and asks what’s going on with Tom and Nick Mysterio. Damian relents and tells him to keep it quiet and not to tag in in their match tonight.

Dominik Mysterio and JD McDonagh make their entrance to send us to break.

#DIY (Johnny Gargano & Tommaso Ciampa) vs. Judgment Day (Dominik Mysterio & JD McDonagh)

Gargano and McDonagh to start, mat grappling, Johnny sends him to the floor but Mysterio low-bridges him to the floor! Ciampa cuts Dominik off and takes him out with a tornillo! Johnny dives on JD and #DIY celebrate as we go to break!

Back from commercial, Ciampa and McDonagh both down, crawling for tags and they get them! Mysterio putting his furry boots to Gargano, roll-through kick for some breathing room, crawling and he tags Tom in but referee Rod Zapata doesn’t see the tag and waves Ciampa off!

Judgment Day work Johnny over and we go to break.

Back from commercial, Ciampa running hot on McDonagh, back body drop sets up an inverted DDT for a nearfall! Fairytale Ending blocked, JD to the corner for the tag! Slingshot senton atomico sets up a double suplex but Gargano blocks, Tom with a small package... NOPE!

Ripcord elbow, tag to John, back suplex / running powerbomb combination... JD BREAKS IT UP! The match breaks down into “everybody do something cool” territory and all four men are down and out! Off the ropes, McDonagh with a Spanish Fly, moonsault off the top... GARGANO BREAKS IT UP WITH A SUPERKICK!

Dom trading forearms with John, dropkick puts him in the ropes, 619 blocked! JD shoves Ciampa into Gargano, nearfall, big DDT from Tom! Tag to Johnny Wrestling...

#DIY win by pinfall with Meet in the Middle.

We get “earlier today” footage of Candice LeRae and Indi Hartwell meeting with Adam Pearce when Chelsea Green and Piper Niven roll up to demand a rematch against the tag champs. Pearce tells them off and books a match between the two teams.

And so we go to break.

Candice LeRae & Indi Hartwell vs. Chelsea Green & Piper Niven

Niven and Hartwell to start, quick tag to Green, heels in control. Indi to the floor, cutting Chelsea off on the apron and working her over! Piper in, the match breaks down, slam on Indi, tag to Green, nobody home on a crossbody! Tags made...

Candice LeRae & Indi Hartwell win by pinfall with an assisted quebrada on Chelsea Green.

We see GUNTHER and Ludwig Kaiser walking backstage and we go to break.

Back from commercial, we get a Nia Jax hype reel.

We go backstage with the Judgment Day where Rhea Ripley gives Damian Priest the cold shoulder and Finn Balor asks where he’s been. He says he went and talked to Adam Pearce about taking care of Drew McIntyre. JD McDonagh asks why they’re not taking care of R-Truth, and that leads to Priest pulling out his wad of cash and telling them to go get their cut of the cash.

JD asks if he gets a cut, Priest says probably not, and Finn and Damian agree to concentrate on their match tonight.

Imperium make their entrance.

GUNTHER says we’re two weeks away from the Royal Rumble and he can literally smell the desperation, and since we’re in Arkansas, he can smell excrement, too. He says while he was away all he saw was his fellow superstars arguing desperately about who will win the Royal Rumble, so came here to remind everyone that he entered the Royal Rumble last year at #1 and made it all the way to the end.

He lasted longer than anyone in the Royal Rumble than ever before, so this year he’s going to win the Royal Rumble and main event WrestleMania!

We get a brief video of Ludwig Kaiser injuring Kofi Kingston last week and GUNTHER talks Kaiser up for showing grit, confidence, and courage, and offers him a hug for a job well done.

Xavier Woods is back!

He says he and Ludwig have a problem, because last week he took it ten steps too far and now Woods is here to extract his pound of flesh from him in a match tonight, unless he has to ask his daddy for permission to have a match. Ludwig does in fact turn and ask his daddy off-mic.

GUNTHER passes Kaiser the mic and Ludwig asks if Xavier really dares challenge him and says what he did to Kofi is nothing compared to what he’ll do to Woods tonight. He’ll take his head and he accepts the match!

Xavier with a shoulder block from the apron, back body drop to the floor, diving lariat off the apron into mounted punches as we go to break!

Ludwig Kaiser vs. Xavier Woods

Back from commercial, match is joined in progress and Kaiser is in control. Smashing Woods’ face into the apron, punches and kicks in the corner, hammering elbows in the ropes until referee Danilo Anfibio forces the break! Off the ropes, crossbody from Xavier, back on his feet but he runs right into an uppercut and a cover for two! Up in the turnbuckles with punches but Kaiser slips out and chop blocks him!

Choking Woods in the corner, shoving him down, whip to the corner, Xavier with an enzuigiri from the apron but he slingshots into a slap and a lariat and Ludwig seems unstoppable! Posting Woods into the corner, dropkick sends him to the floor and we go to break!

Back from commercial, Woods snaps Kaiser’s neck over the ropes, enzuigiri, springboard tornado DDT and he’s fired up! Action to the floor, everything goes to hell, Woods throws an office chair at Ludwig and referee Danilo Anfibio has no choice...

Ludwig Kaiser wins by disqualification.

Woods grabs a steel chair and Kaiser dropkicks it into his face! Charging around the way to injure him out but Xavier gets his boots up! Grabbing the steel steps to return the favor but Ludwig ducks and runs away through the crowd!

Bronson Reed cuts a promo about how there’s a man holding a title in WWE right now who doesn’t realize that sooner or later it’ll belong to “Big” Bronson Reed, and we go to break.

Back from commercial, Xavier Woods is interviewed.

Before he can say much of anything, Ludwig Kaiser attacks and beats him down until Jey Uso makes the save!

We get a hype reel for Jinder Mahal.

Akira Tozawa makes his entrance, flanked by Maxxine Dupri, and we go to break.

Akira Tozawa vs. Ivar

Ivar bowls Tozawa over and jaws at him about how small he is, Akira gets a hope spot but the big Viking bowls him right over again! Big slam, up top, Maxxine Dupri running interference and Tozawa cuts him off with a gamengiri...

Akira Tozawa wins by pinfall with a sunset flip powerbomb.

Post-match, Valhalla attacks Maxxine and beats her down! Ivar hits the moonsault on Tozawa!

We get a recap of our opening segment because Raw is three hours long. (Three hours long.)

We’re told CM Punk wants to talk to Cody Rhodes.

Rhea Ripley is shown walking backstage to send us to break.

Back from commercial, Alpha Academy and Diamond Mine are consoling Maxxine Dupri and Akira Tozawa and Ivy Nile says she’ll go to Adam Pearce and make sure Valhalla pays for it. And Chad Gable says that next week he’ll teach Ivar a lesson.

Rhea Ripley makes her entrance and gets on the mic.

She’s sick and tired of women like Nia Jax running their mouths and claiming this is their division, when this is her division and she has the title to prove it. She warns whoever wins the Royal Rumble to not waste their WrestleMania and pick someone else, because Mami is always on top.

Enter Becky Lynch.

She gets on the mic and talks about the similarities between their journeys and the differences and how they’re two of the very best to do it but there’s a voice in her head that says that Rhea might be better than her but she needs to prove that she’s not and the only way to do that is to take the title and to do THAT she needs to win the Royal Rumble and point to the sign.

Ripley says she wants to see her at WrestleMania.

Seth Rollins is interviewed backstage.

He welcomes us to Monday Night Rollins and says he’s been World Heavyweight Champion for over 200 days and every title defense makes him stronger and better and the only way to hold it to WrestleMania is to be a fighting champion, a workhorse. He asked for Jinder Mahal and this isn’t their first dance, but he’s not the guy he beat to become the very first NXT Champion.

No, this is the best version of Jinder Mahal, a deserving Jinder Mahal, and he wouldn’t have it any other way.

The Miz makes his entrance and we go to break.

Awesome Truth (R-Truth & the Miz) vs. Judgment Day (Damian Priest & Finn Balor)

R-Truth drops a big pile of money during introductions and scrambles to pick it up, stuffing it in Finn Balor’s pocket. He gives Dominik Mysterio a cut as well but explains patiently to JD McDonagh that he doesn’t get a cut because he’s not in Judgment Day. Miz tries to remind him that they’re teaming together to no avail.

Balor and Truth to start, Finn in control right away, Ron ducks him out of the corner, block a kick, right hand and Balor slips to the floor as Truth understands his mistake and apologizes! Double leg into stomps, and we go to break.

Back from commercial, Miz in the match, running hot on Balor, Codebreaker in the ropes... NOPE! Truth tags in, Scissor Kick on Finn but he’s immediately bereft that he attacked his stablemate! Priest takes Miz out, Ron laying in wait for Damian, he turns around and waves Truth off!

Finn tries to roll Truth up but eats a leg lariat! Damian goozles Truth... SOUTH OF HEAVEN!

Judgment Day win by pinfall with a lateral press from Finn Balor on R-Truth.

Jinder Mahal is interviewed while he’s meditating backstage.

He says it’s been a seven year drought but the whispers are pouring in and his focus is singular. Twelve years in the making, narrowed down to one night, and tonight everyone will be unified when he beats Seth Rollins and wins the World Heavyweight Championship.

Shayna Baszler and Zoey Stark make their entrance to send us to break.

Back from commercial, Shinsuke Nakamura cuts a promo.

He says he couldn’t do the damage he wanted to last week, which made him angry and left him hungry, and Cody Rhodes should keep an eye open because their story isn’t over until he says so. He also says he’s going to win the Royal Rumble by feasting on 29 men’s dreams.

Natalya & Tegan Nox vs. Shayna Baszler & Zoey Stark

Nox and Baszler to start, Queen of Spades in control, quick tags as Stark joins in working her over. Heat segment rolls on, Tegan gets a crossbody in, uppercut, tags made and Natalya comes in hot on Stark! Right hands in the corner, slingshot Atomic Drop, basement dropkick, German suplex!

Double leg, Zoey blocks the Sharpshooter, Baszler tags back in blind! Double-team takes Stark out, Nattie drops Shayna with a discus lariat, knee from Nox... NOPE! Tag back to Neidhart, looking for the Hart Attack but Stark cuts Nox off! Shayna gets the Kirifuda Clutch, Nattie reverses, Baszler takes control of the hold back...

Shayna Baszler & Zoey Stark win by submission with the Kirifuda Clutch from Baszler on Natalya.

Jinder Mahal makes his entrance flanked by Indus Sher and we go to break.

Jinder Mahal vs. Seth Rollins (c) (WWE World Heavyweight Championship)

Hot start, both men trying to end it early, action to the floor and they trade hard hits at the base of the ramp! Mahal with a scoop but Rollins passes him into the post! Off the apron, diving knee connects and he gets in Veer Mahaan’s face! Damian Priest comes down the aisle with his Money in the Bank briefcase and we go to break!

Back from commercial, Mahal has Rollins in a Cobra Twist while Priest chills out at ringside! Breaking the hold, right hand, slingshot knee drops, Seth off the ropes, lariat blocked, trading forearms! Back body drop to the apron, diving crossbody gets Rollins two! Basement superkick connects, to the apron, springboard senton atomico into a quebrada... SO CLOSE!

Fighting over a suplex, Jinder gets him up, Seth reverses, Falcon Arrow connects! Pedigree connects, no deal, up top, he takes Veer out with a dive! Back up top, nobody home on the frog splash! Drew McIntyre shows up to brawl with Damian Priest and they fight around ringside and Mahal takes advantage of a cheap shot and the distraction but can’t keep Seth down!

Mounted punches, briefcase shot, Khallas... ROLLINS WON’T STAY DOWN! Seth follows it up...

Seth Rollins wins by pinfall with Blackout, retaining the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.

That’s the show, folks.
