According to his Facebook page, WWE Hall of Famer and Anoa’i family Afa of the Wild Samoans is in the hospital. The 81 year old is being monitored after being admitted on Thursday night for pneumonia, and suffering a pair of “small” heart attacks while hospitalized.
That per a Fri., Jan. 12 post on his Facebook page:
Update on Afa the Wild Samoan, affectionately known as Pops: Afa was admitted to the hospital last night with pneumonia, but had a mild heart attack upon arrival. Today, he had a second small heart attack and was sent for a heart catheterization. He is doing ok, his spirits are high. He isn’t out of the woods yet, but will be kept in the hospital for a day or two for observation and monitoring. He thanks everyone for their concern, continued love, and prayers.
A video message from Afa was added this morning, thanking everyone for sending love and prayers his way and reassuring us he’s okay.
Last month, the page included a post about Afa undergoing an exploratory heart procedure before possible valve replacement surgery, and a notice canceling a training seminar planned for today “due to increased medical concerns”.
Thankfully these latest updates sound optimistic about Afa’s prognosis. We’ll keep a good thought for Roman Reigns’ uncle.
