So... we guess that X-Pac/Royal Rumble rumor was true

Sean Waltman on Twitter

Earlier this week, a report came out listing three names WWE plans to bring back as surprise entrants in the 2024 Royal Rumble matches.

Two of those folks haven’t commented on any plans they may or may not have for Jan. 27 in St. Petersburg, Florida. The third, Sean “X-Pac” Waltman, didn’t directly address the rumor. But he did decide to post the following on X/Twitter last night (Jan. 11):

We wouldn’t buy this “excuse” under any circumstances, but we’re especially not buying it from Waltman. During his WWE Hall of Fame career, the nWo and D-X member routinely wrestled with most of his upper body covered — going all the way back to his days as the 1-2-3 Kid. Sure, it was usually fitted, but we’re still not buying that Pac would choose to skip out on a Rumble pop just because of a little paunch. Especially seeing as he led with a humblebrag about how he’s otherwise ready to go.

Plus, during WrestleMania weekend a couple years ago, Waltman went 20 minutes for GCW. That was structured around what the now-51 year old could do at the time (and the torn bicep he suffered wrestling weeks before), but involved way more than he’d be required to do as a surprise Rumble entrant. Combine that with reports he’s been down at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando lately, probably the best place in the world to shake off ring rust...

Points for effort, X. But we’ll see you later this month at The Trop. And we’ll still scream our heads off for you, even if you’ll be expected.
