Mickie James has a new gig in pro wrestling with a fancy job title

Mickie James has a new job in pro wrestling in 2024; she’s joining Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW) as its Creative Director, Head of Female Talent, and Executive Producer.

Here is OVW’s press release with all the details:

James had a very enthusiastic response to the big news on social media:

“Thank you @ovwrestling for everything you’ve done for me. Now I hope to return the love in some way. I am honored and excited for all 2024 has in store.”

OVW used to be WWE’s developmental territory circa 2000 to 2008. Mickie spent a lot of time there between 2003 and 2005, before joining the main roster for a famous storyline with Trish Stratus.

James last wrestled in October 2023, where she lost at Impact Wrestling’s Bound for Glory pay-per-view in a Knockouts title match against Trinity. With all these new job titles for OVW, it seems like she is indeed ready to spend a lot less time in the ring, and a lot more time in an important leadership role behind the scenes. Female empowerment is a key part of OVW’s press release welcoming Mickie aboard, so it will be interesting to see how she implements that vision going forward.
