The free agent market for pro wrestlers is heating up, and there’s been a lot of talk about where female stars like Mercedes Moné and Giulia will eventually sign. Former NWA Women’s champion Kamille’s name came up in that conversation last week, but amidst all that chatter it was another wrestler who’s held one of Billy Corgan’s belts who showed up in WWE this week.
Madi Wrenkowski, who along with her M95 partner Missa Kate held the NWA Women’s Tag titles from February to August last year, was rumored to have signed with WWE last fall and started at the Performance Center in December. She hasn’t been officially introduced as a member of the NXT roster, but she did show up — along with a few others who’ve yet to debut on TV like Jade Gentile — in the latest Anonymous video.
Shawn Michaels & team have used the “secretly” filmed behind-the-scenes footage gimmick to advance storylines on the brand for a while now. This one deals with Jacy Jayne & Thea Hail saving Chase U after Andre Chase’s mismanagement (and gambling problem) has left the school in dire straits. It also confirms that Wrenkowski is working at the PC.
Madi’s the brunette to Jayne’s right, standing in front of the map:
She was later shown on television during the Jan. 9 episode of NXT, sitting in the Chase U student section:
Wrenkowski has been wrestling for about four years and mostly worked independents in her home state of Texas, including Thunder Rosa’s Mission Pro Wrestling and Booker T’s Reality of Wrestling. In addition to her NWA run, she’s also made numerous appearances for AEW on their now-defunct YouTube shows Dark and Elevation.
Now the 28 year old is an NXT Superstar, and apparently a Chase U student. How will that work out for her? Let us know what you think below.
