WWE SMACKDOWN RESULTS AND LIVE BLOG FOR MAY 19
I’ve been looking so long for you now you won’t get away from my grasp. You’ve been living so long in hiding in hiding behind that false mask and you know and I know that you ain’t got long now to last, but me? I’m just here to liveblog this pro wrestling show for you, folks.
The show opens with Roman Reigns making his entrance, flanked by Paul Heyman and Solo Sikoa.
Roman gets on the mic and takes issue with the reaction he’s getting from South Carolina and demands they acknowledge him.
Enter Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn.
Reigns says he was gonna bring them out here anyway and there are only two things to do and they can get them done right now. He demands they acknowledge him as Tribal Chief and drop the titles off and see themselves out.
Roman switches gears and says he doesn’t want to talk to KO, but Sami, he talks about the highest of highs and lowest of lows in his career but he only has one regret, and that’s wasting his life on Sami Zayn. Zayn says he only has one regret, too, and that’s not blasting Reigns with a chair sooner.
They haven’t been in the ring together since Montreal, and Sami’s thought for months he’d never get to tell him everything he wanted to say eye to eye, but now Roman’s greed has lead them to this moment, and now the funny thing is he has nothing to say except this:
Everyone has told Roman he’s the best his whole life, and he’s always gotten everything he’s wanted, but at Night of Champions, he’s not going to get the tag titles, because he’s just not as good as they are. And for that matter, he’s not as good as the Usos, either.
Roman sputters about it before saying he took it easy and gave him opportunity after opportunity and— THE USOS ATTACK AND TAKE KEVIN OWENS AND SAMI ZAYN OUT!
Reigns yells at Jimmy Uso for defying the plan, because they weren’t supposed to be out here. He turns around to storm off but Solo Sikoa cold-shoulders him and we go to break!
Back from commercial, the Bloodline are in Roman’s office, the Usos nervous and trying to justify themselves.
Reigns berates them for going into business for themselves when he had something to say. He gave a good portion of his life and career to that fool Sami Zayn, but he didn’t get to say it because the Usos interrupted.
Pretty Deadly get an insert vignette where they’re baking and talking up their bonafides.
Brawling Brutes (Pete “Butch” Dunne & Ridge Holland) vs. Pretty Deadly (Elton Prince & Kit Wilson)
Sheamus is on commentary for this one.
Wislon and Dunne to start, big lariat from Butch, neckbreaker for a comeback, tag to Prince, double axhandles, tag to Ridge, he gets caught by a DDT, Elton is bleeding from the nose and we go to break.
Back from commercial, Pretty Deadly working Holland over, double teams, leg drop / big splash combination for two! Trading palm strikes with Prince, whip reversed, Butch tags in, enzuigiris and German suplexes, corner enzuigiris, knees to shoulders, stomps to hands, X Plex on Kit... SO CLOSE!
Setting Wilson up top, enzuigiri connects, mounted punches, knocked down, Holland stacks both men on his shoulders and hits a double fallaway slam. Stereo Beats of the Bodhran, Pretty Deadly slip out and catch Ridge...
Pretty Deadly win by pinfall with Spilt Milk on Ridge Holland.
We get a memorial video for “Superstar” Billy Graham and go to break.
Back from commercial, Zelina Vega is interviewed at Gorilla.
She says when she received the love and support of her people in Puerto Rico, she realized she belongs with the top dogs in the women’s division, and when she gave her all to Rhea Ripley, she showed she can go toe-to-toe with the best and Asuka will see that she’s ready.
Asuka vs. Zelina Vega
Asuka hot out the gates and we go to break.
Back from commercial, Asuka blocks a whip, knee up in the corner, Vega with a basement dropkick, drop toehold sets the Empress up for the Tiger feint kick! Off the top, Meteora connects... NOPE! Zelina goes for a tricky pin but Asuka reverses to the Asuka Lock!
Vega reverses, another pin, Asuka with a scissored armbar... IT’S OVER!
Asuka wins by submission with a scissored armbar.
Post-match, Asuka refuses to let go of the hold until Bianca Belair makes the save! Asuka grabs her hand from the floor and spits the mist, just barely connecting with the champion!
We get a video package for our World Heavyweight Championship tournament finals and go to break.
Back from commercial, Grayson Waller welcomes us to the Grayson Waller Effect.
He welcomes AJ Styles as his guest and puts him over as a first-ballot Hall of Famer before asking what winning the title would mean. AJ talks about being out injured, the longest he’s been out of the ring in his career, and how all he could think about was wrestling, and he trained so hard to be ready to win the title at Night of Champions.
Grayson talks about how he thinks Seth Rollins is going to win and they square up and jaw at each other.
Latino World Order are chatting backstage and they put the Usos over as a great team but Santos Escobar says they have to go out there and show off, and Joaquin Wilde assures him that tonight, they’ll be the better team. Rey Mysterio says the Usos are gonna find out what happens when you mess with the LWO.
Street Profits make their entrance and we go to break.
Back from commercial, LA Knight makes his entrance and cuts a promo about how he can beat the Street Profits with anybody, and he’s gonna prove it by teaming with Rick Boogs tonight.
LA Knight & Rick Boogs vs. Street Profits (Angelo Dawkins & Montez Ford)
Boogs and Ford to start, Rick pressing him in a military press repeatedly, tag to Dawkins, side headlock, shot off, leapfrog, shoulder block, curling Angelo in a pumphandle and hitting a fallaway slam! Tag to Knight, Dawkins with a jawbreaker, LA slams him and taunts, off the ropes for the elbow drop, only two!
Rick tags in, Knight directing traffic, back suplex, Angelo lands on his feet! Tag to Montez, double crossbody takes both of them out, lariat for LA, land on his feet off a back suplex attempt from Boogs! Kick combo sends Rick into the corner, back body drop puts Knight on the apron and an enzuigiri and a missed lariat from Boogs knocks him to the floor!
Ford off the ropes, tope con giro! Back inside, Sky High from Dawkins, Montez off the top...
Street Profits win by pinfall with a frog splash from Montez Ford on Rick Boogs.
Post-match, LA hits BFT on Boogs and leaves him laying!
Cameron Grimes is interviewed backstage.
He says being on SmackDown feels like living the dream and he knows he made a big splash beating Baron Corbin in record time, but he’s going straight to the top, to the moon!
We see the Usos getting ready backstage and go to break.
Back from commercial, Karrion Kross is in a creepy room with Scarlett Bordeaux and they reveal an AJ Styles tarot card.
Alba Fyre & Isla Dawn vs. Valentina Feroz & Yulisa Leon
It’s a squash...
Alba Fyre & Isla Dawn win by pinfall with a double reverse STO.
Raquel Rodriguez is interviewed backstage.
She says relinquishing the tag titles is hard and shouts Liv Morgan out and says she’s not replaceable—
Damage CTRL roll up and Bayley says if she can find someone to replace that idiot Liv, she and IYO SKY will be waiting for them next week.
Austin Theory makes his entrance to send us to break.
Back from commercial, Austin Theory gets on the mic.
He says we know and our parents know who Austin Theory is. (Buddy I literally reviewed the entire first part of your career and my mom has NO idea who you are.) He continues, saying he was ganged up on by two former world champions last week in Bobby Lashley and Sheamus.
And why, because he would have gone on to beat Seth Rollins and win the World Heavyweight Championship? Bobby Lashley he gets, he followed him to SmackDown from Raw, but he doesn’t understand why Sheamus has a problem with him. They have a lot in common, they’re both tough and strong and beat John Cena, except he beat John this year and Sheamus did when Austin was like 13 years old.
Sheamus comes down and blasts him with the Brogue Kick!
Backstage, the Usos are getting hyped up when Paul Heyman rolls up to chat.
He says it’s all under control and the Tribal Chief forgives both of them, but when Jimmy asks he grabs his hands and says Roman Reigns won’t be out there tonight. But it’s fine, it’s the LWO, they got this! The Usos are unhappy about it.
Rey Mysterio and Santos Escobar make their entrance and we go to break.
Back from commercial, commentary hypes up next week’s show for us.
Latino World Order (Rey Mysterio & Santos Escobar) vs. the Usos (Jimmy & Jey Uso)
Mysterio and Jey to start, circling, double leg into the corner, quick tags to keep Rey off-balance, hard whip into the corner! Mysterio with a front kick, Escobar with a blind tag, kick from the apron, Usos sent to the floor, 619 hits air and Santos puts him on his shoulders to taunt as we go to break!
Back from commercial, schoolboy on Escobar for two! Ode to Rikishi connects, Santos pops up, running knee connects! Tag to Mysterio, off the ropes, flying headscissors connects, headed up top, diving seated senton and a springboard crossbody... NOPE!
Jey with right hands, Rey with a Yoshi Tonic for two! Jimmy runs interference, his brother with a back suplex neckbreaker... STILL NO! Double suplex attempt from the Usos, Rey slips out and sends them to the floor, tag to Escobar and a big dive!
Corner knees from Santos, up top, avalanche Frankensteiner connects... NOT ENOUGH! Hanging him in the ropes, leg drop from Rey... JEY BREAKS IT UP! Superkick to Santos, Rey sends him to the floor, sets his brother up, off the ropes, Jimmy pops up with a superkick!
Jey off the top, diving splash... SO CLOSE! Usos up top, Kevin Owens comes down, Sami Zayn shoves Jimmy off the top and Rey takes advantage! Tag made, 619 connects, diving senton to Jey, Santos off the top...
Latino World Order win by pinfall with a diving splash from Santos Escobar on Jimmy Uso.
We see Roman Reigns looking sullen backstage and he stops Solo Sikoa from getting up.
That’s the show, folks.
