CM Punk is teasing an appearance at WWE NXT Deadline

During his time on SmackDown last night (Dec. 8), CM Punk did more than just declare his intent to main event WrestleMania, plant the seeds for multiple feuds, and make a joke about his time in AEW. He also sold his “free agent” status.

Punk listened to blue brand General Manager Nick Aldis’ pitch, and polled the SmackDown crowd about where he should “sign” (they mostly went along with the bit and cheered for him to keep working Friday nights). He said he’s headed back to Raw on Monday night, where he’ll see what Adam Pearce has to offer and announce his decision.

And, oh yeah, Punk also said he has a call scheduled with Shawn Michaels this weekend about possibly joining NXT. Now, it looks like he can take that meeting in person. At least that’s what he’s hinting at in his Instagram Story...

We’re sure old H-B-Shizzle is one hell of a salesman, but NXT’s got long odds to land Punk. Still, even a backstage appearance at the brand’s Deadline premium live event tonight in Bridgeport, Connecticut would trend online and get few more fans to launch their Peacock app...

Whether you’re watching live or just want to know what happens, you can find out in our Deadline live blog. The main show starts at 8pm ET, with a free pre-show an hour before.
