Charlotte Flair injured during SmackDown match

We’re still waiting for a diagnosis, but it seems clear the Queen hurt her knee at Tribute to the Troops.

As those watching SmackDown last night (Dec. 8) saw, Charlotte Flair was heavily favoring her right leg in the second half of her Tribute to the Troops match with Asuka. After the match, she was caught on camera by WrestlingNews.co‘s Steve Fall telling referee Charles Robinson it was her knee.

Robinson and a trainer then helped Flair up and assisted her to the back.

Various reports are going around about what happened. PWInsider was told the injury occurred when Charlotte & Asuka were setting up for a spot during commercial and “Flair slipped and got caught on the ropes, wrenching her knee and striking her head”. The fall was not shown on television, and announcers Michael Cole & JBL explained Asuka had taken her out when both wrestlers were down after the break.

Insider added that while the WWE medical team was evaluating Charlotte in the back, there was obviously concern among her fellow wrestlers about her knee. The results of those evaluations are key however, and until we have them there’s no way of knowing how long Flair could be sidelined with the injury.

We’ll keep you posted. Until then, we’ll keep a good thought for The Queen.
