NXT made the right choice by going underground

The ratings and viewership data are in for the Dec. 26 edition of WWE NXT.

According to Wrestlenomics, the pre-taped show averaged 670,000 viewers and scored a 0.19 rating among 18-49 year olds. These numbers are both up compared to last week’s pre-taped show (641K, 0.17).

This episode was headlined by Eddy Thorpe’s victory over Dijak in an NXT Underground match, which helped the black and gold brand close out 2023 on a positive note after a lull in the numbers over the last month. Now all they have to do is bring back Shane McMahon to really give this Underground gimmick the star power it deserves, and ratings will surely explode from there.

NXT returns live next Tuesday night (Jan. 2) with a loaded New Year’s Evil card, so make sure to come back here next week to see how much of a boost that gives its numbers to start 2024.
