WWE NXT results, live blog (Dec. 26, 2023): Underground match

Here’s a place to check results and comment along with the newest episode of WWE NXT, airing live on Tuesday night at 8PM Eastern time slot on USA Network.

Advertised for tonight from the WWE Performance Center: Eddy Thorpe & Dijak settle things in an NXT Underground match, Noam Dar defends the Heritage Cup against Josh Briggs, the Men’s Breakout Tournament semi-finals pit Lexis King against Riley Osborne & Oba Femi against Tavion Heights, Chase U puts it all on the line against OTM, Cora Jade goes one-on-one against Karmen Petrovic... and more!

Come day, you’ll say you cannot stay. What’s more, I’ll feel the same, it happens every time. So I’ve come to find everyone goes away, and I’m here liveblogging this pro wrestling show for you, folks.

The show opens right into our first match.

Chase U (Andre Chase & Duke Hudson) vs. Out the Mud (Bronco Nima & Lucien Price) (All or Nothing Match)

Tony D’Angelo and Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo watch from the crowd.

Chase and Price to start, collar and elbow, Lucien shoves him down, tag to Hudson, trying to cut the ring in half but they fail and Andre finds himself on the wrong side of town as Nima goes to work on him. Duke with a hot tag, flip flop & fly on Bronco, he Death Valley Divers Lucien into his own partner before taking a moment to counter SCRYPTS interference!

Andre tags in, perches up top, nobody home, Price blasts him with a superkick, tag made...

Out the Mud win by pinfall with a spinebuster on Andre Chase.

We get NXT Year End awards— Creed Brothers win Tag Team of the Year, Tiffany Stratton wins Female Superstar of the Year, Ilja Dragunov wins Male Superstar of the Year.

Meta-Four make their entrance and we go to break.

Back from commercial, Trick Williams and Carmelo Hayes chat.

Williams says he might have to push his match against Ilja Dragunov back since he wants to face him at 100%, but Carmelo tells him he has to take his shot because he’s on fire and five years from now the only thing people will be talking about is that he won the title.

Josh Briggs vs. Noam Dar (c) (NXT Heritage Cup)

Round One

Briggs using his strength early, shoving Dar down, throwing him around, just absolutely chucking him into the corner at one point. Josh with a tilt-a-whirl slam, knee drop for a two count, right into a half crab, trying to finish him with a powerbomb as the countdown timer ticks...

Round Two

Bossman Slam, cover... NOPE! Hossing him up, Dar reverses to a guillotine choke, shifting to a triangle choke, powerbomb counter...

Josh Briggs wins the first fall by pinfall with a powerbomb, going up 1-0.

And so we go to break.

Round Three

Back from commercial, trading strikes on the apron, Dar hits a DDT on the apron and follows it up with a springboard kick off the barricade as the countdown timer ticks...

Round Four

Dar with quick covers, running knee, Nova Roller... BRIGGS KICKS OUT! Off the ropes, Josh blasts him with a boot, Rock Bottom... NOAM KICKS OUT! Dar grabs a kneebar, fighting off Briggs’ attempts to break it, trying to maintain control but eventually Josh fights out.

Noam with elbows, Josh clocks him with a jab but Lash Legend attacks him with the bucket with the referee distracted... IT’S NOT ENOUGH ANYWAY! Briggs clobbers Dar with the bucket and forgets himself...

Noam Dar wins by disqualification.

Axiom and Nathan Frazer are chatting backstage, Frazer talking some trash about Bron Breakker until he realizes he’s standing behind him.

Bron says his speed and high-flying have no affect on him, and Nathan challenges him to a match.

Cora Jade makes her entrance to send us to break.

Cora Jade vs. Karmen Petrovic

Feeling out, Jade shoving her, Petrovic going to work, wristlock step-over into a kick, Cora turns her around, shoulder thrusts in the corner, sunset flip from Karmen gets two! Rising knee from Jade, slingshot stomp but she comes up lame and Petrovic kicks her leg out from under her!

Flying forearms, corner kick, 540 falling roundhouse kick... SO CLOSE! Jade recovers...

Cora Jade wins by pinfall with a snap underhook DDT.

Post-match, Jade toys with Petrovic some more until Gigi Dolin makes the save!

We see Donovan Dijak arriving at the arena earlier tonight.

Lexis King makes his entrance to send us to break.

Lexis King vs. Riley Osborne (NXT Men’s Breakout Tournament)

Osborne with a wristlock, working it through arm drags, King forces him in the ropes and breaks dirty with a shove! Lexis with a high-angle half-crab, Riley struggling but he won’t break! Rolling through, duck a lariat, leg lariat connects, corkscrew moonsault... NOPE!

Trading vicious overhand chops, King with a backbreaker, straitjacket lungblower... SO CLOSE! Trey Bearhill appears to threaten Lexis with a chair, Osborne off the top...

Riley Osborne wins by pinfall with a shooting star press.

Post-match, Bearhill attacks King, raking his back, but Lexis makes good his retreat and we go to break.

Back from commercial, more NXT Year End Awards follow— Carmelo Hayes vs. Ilja Dragunov at No Mercy wins Match of the Year, and Undertaker’s guest appearance wins Moment of the Year.

Ava Raine tells us that she doesn’t have a definitive status for Ilja Dragunov but docts will let him decide, which seems so wrong that I worry I misheard it.

Bron Breakker vs. Nathan Frazer

Breakker using his strength, Frazer turning the speed up, slide low, backflip out of a suplex, off the ropes, Bron blasts him with a shoulder! Nathan gets him in a headlock, Breakker to his feet, slamming him into the turnbuckles! Back and forth, Frazer ducking under, and we go to break!

Back from commercial, Bron takes him down, right hands, fireman’s carry into a double knee gutbuster... STILL NO! Kneeling bow-and-arrow, jawbreaker for the escape but Breakker is right on him putting boots to him! Blocking punches and throwing his own, off the ropes, passing Bron to the floor!

Throwing Breakker into the steel steps, back inside, off the top, crossbody countered into a World’s Strongest Slam... SO CLOSE! Superkick for a nearfall, Frazer up top, Phoenix Splash, nobody home...

Bron Breakker wins by pinfall with the spear.

Drew Gulak says if Dragon Lee and the LWO wants to step into his world, they can, and the entire No Quarter Catch Crew gets promo time to talk trash at them and challenge them to a trios match at New Years Evil.

Brooks Jensen and Fallon Henley roll up to console Josh Briggs over his loss and Jensen tells him he knows him and Fallon needs to spread her wings too. Josh tells them he loves them and Fallon says that’s it, it’s over, and Brooks says one last time, hands in.

He says they’re family forever and he loves them, Fallon says she loves them too, and they leave Brooks holding his hand up by himself as we go to break.

Back from commercial, Arianna Grace is chatting with Ava Raine to complain about the vicious attack and bruising she suffered last week at the hands of Roxanne Perez, and for the betterment of the women’s locker room that Perez do anger management classes, and it ends up with Raine making a match between them.

Blair Davenport and Lyra Valkyria have a sitdown interview.

They accuse each other of avoiding each other, and Lyra says she clawed her way to the title the right way while Blair attacked people in the parking lot and they trade a few more barbs before squaring up.

Oba Femi vs. Tavion Heights (NXT Men’s Breakout Tournament Semifinals)

Heights with a boot in hand, spin-out facebuster, Femi blocks with elbows, shoves him down, mounted punches, big slam! Lining Tavion up, corkscrew uppercut, cover... NOPE! Fireman’s carry slam, go-behind, German suplex connects! Belly-to-belly suplex, Oba comes back, powerbomb lift...

Oba Femi wins by pinfall with a powerbomb.

Ilja Dragunov is interviewed while wearing a neck brace, but he waves the interview off, saying he’s looking for Trick Williams.

Joe Coffey makes his entrance to send us to break.

Back from commercial, we get a recap of Ilja Dragunov’s injury from last week.

Joe Coffey vs. Joe Gacy

Circling, collar and elbow, neither man able to gain an advantage so they slug it out with forearms! Side headlock from Gacy, shot off, dropkick, senton connects and Chainsaw Joe is fired up! The Iron Man sends him to the floor, Gallus with the distraction and Coffey dives on him!

Splash from Coffey gets two, Rock Bottom from Gacy... SO CLOSE! Hank Walker and Tank Ledger equalize the Gallus boys, cross chop and a shoulder block from Coffey! Off the ropes, duck All the Best for the Bells...

Joe Gacy wins by pinfall with the Upside-Down.

Dragon Lee and the Latino World Order are interviewed backstage and they accept No Quarter Catch Crew’s challenge before reuniting with Elektra Lopez and reminiscing about how they used to run NXT and congratulating her on forging her own path.

She introduces a disinterested Lola Vice to them.

We see Eddy Thorpe and Donovan Dijak warming up backstage and go to break.

Back from commercial, commentary hypes up next week’s show.

Donovan Dijak vs. Eddy Thorpe (NXT Underground Match)

Thorpe right in with a German suplex, looking for a cross armbar, Dijak overwhelms him and throws him into the post and we go to break.

Back from commercial, Tall Don with a vicious tope con giro that wipes Eddy out! German suplex, leg kicks, another German, waistlock, duck an elbow, Thorpe with a sheerdrop brainbuster! Back and forth, Dijak trying to break a waistlock with punches, Eddy punching away, German suplex but Don lands on his feet!

Feast Your Eyes on the floor... NOPE! Eddy with a sleeper but Dijak shrugs him off by putting him into the ringpost! DDTs on the floor, Dijak gets back up, Thorpe chokes him, Don to his feet, fading, Eddy switches his grip... DDT OFF THE APRON AND THROUGH THE ANNOUNCE DESK! IT’S OVER!

Eddy Thorpe wins by knockout.

Trick Williams chats with Ilja Dragunov, asking if he’s going to be ready to fight at New Years Evil before signing the contract and offering to push the match back. Dragunov says nothing and no one can stop him before taking the brace off and signing the contract.

They stand up and shake hands and have a staredown.
