WWE has a big presence at the Big 12 championship game (UPDATED)

WWE and the Big 12 announced they’d be partnering up to promote the collegiate athletic conferences’s football championship game. With the University of Texas and Oklahoma State University on ESPN today (Dec. 2) facing off in said game from AT&T Stadium, we’re finding out what that looks like.

An interesting contingent of former and current stars are representing WWE in Arlington, Texas. Undertaker and Michelle McCool live in Austin, where UT’s campus is (Taker is a big Longhorns fan, and helped out with the hype video before one of their biggest wins this year against Alabama). Drew McIntyre is on hand, so whatever’s real about his frustrations with WWE over contract negotiations isn’t stopping him from being a professional. Ring announcer extraordinaire Samantha Irvin is with them, as are a star who’s been missing from television (Sheamus, reportedly dealing with a shoulder injury) and one who’s training for her full-time debut (Jade Cargill).

The custom title over the Dead Man’s shoulder will be awarded to the game’s MVP. Here’s hoping Irvin gets to introduce the winner before Taker hands them this substantial piece of hardware:

And while Cody Rhodes is not at the site of his WrestleMania 38 return to WWE today — he’s probably getting ready to watch his beloved Georgia Bulldogs take on Bama in the Southeastern Conference title game in a couple hours — he did pitch in and do the voice over for the game’s trailer. He even lent the teams his catch phrase:

As for the game itself, it’s not quite a squash. Oklahoma State is showing some fighting spirit, but Texas jumped out to a three touchdown first quarter lead and as of halftime it doesn’t look they’ll be giving it up. Wonder how Irvin would put her signature spin on Horns quarterback Quinn Ewers name?

UPDATE: After leading UT to a 49-21 win and the Big 12 title, it was Ewers. No, Irvin intro though...

... but we do have this footage of Samantha and Jade enjoying Nelly’s halftime show, which I think everyone will agree is much better:

Definitely got hot in therre (full version, including a McIntyre cameo, on WWE’s Instagram Story while it lasts). Nelly also got his own belt from Cargill; you can watch that presentation here.
