Roman Reigns didn’t move the needle like CM Punk did

The Tribal Chief returned to SmackDown on Dec. 15, but he didn’t deliver the kind of numbers CM Punk did the Friday before.

According to Wrestlenomics, the most recent SmackDown was watched by 2,240,000 total viewers and did a .55 rating with 18-49 year olds. Both numbers are down from the week prior, the demo considerably so. It’s the lowest rating the blue brand’s done on FOX since Nov. 3.

Competition for last Friday’s show had came from the NBA, with LeBron & the Lakers vs. Wemby & the Spurs drawing 1.46 million and .45 opposite SmackDown on ESPN. It’s also the winter holiday season, where there are always lots of things competing for people’s time and attention.

We’ll see how this week’s pre-taped show does just a couple days before Christmas. In the meantime, here’s a rundown of the past year’s worth of SmackDown’s numbers:
