Royal Rumble 2024 is shaping up to be special

We’re still just over one week away from Christmas, and therefore more than a month away from the next WWE premium live event on the schedule, the first big show of the new year, Royal Rumble. Having said that, the event, which is scheduled for Sat., Jan. 27, 2024, at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida, is already shaping up to be special.

There are only three matches we are certain of at this point, and though we know so little about two of them there’s already a lot of reason to be excited for it:

  • Women’s Royal Rumble

Only Bayley has officially declared for it, as she made her intentions to win the women’s world championship from Rhea Ripley clear so that Damage CTRL will hold all the gold.

  • Men’s Royal Rumble

This is going to be one of the most interesting Royal Rumble matches in history, if only because there are two competing stories at play here, both of which are hugely compelling, between two top stars. Cody Rhodes and CM Punk have been declared they are in, and both are gunning hard for the main event of WrestleMania 40. They both have a story to finish. Rhodes wants Reigns, Punk wants Rollins, and there’s a lot of tension over who will ultimately win the day. They hardly need to announce anyone else for this match at this point.

  • WWE Universal Championship: Roman Reigns vs. TBA

Spoiler alert here but the episode of Friday Night SmackDown taped for this coming week (full spoilers here) brought news that Randy Orton vs. AJ Styles vs. LA Knight will determine who will move on to this show to challenge Reigns for his title. There’s every reason to believe Orton will emerge victorious.

Again, that’s all we know so far and already I’m ready for it to be the morning of Jan. 27 already.

You as excited as me?
