WWE recently announced its first ever Premium Live Event (PLE) to be held in France; Backlash 2024 will take place on Saturday, May 4, at the LDLC Arena in Lyon-Decines. SmackDown on FOX is also booked for that very same venue on May 3, the night before Backlash.
When I think of major WWE international shows like this, I think of all the big stars being booked for the event. But check out these graphics on WWE’s web site today when the company announced that tickets go on sale on January 12:
The main thing that stands out about this graphic is the absence of part-time WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns. Is WWE really heading to France without the Tribal Chief? This event takes place roughly one month after WrestleMania 40. Could it be a sign that Roman’s very lengthy run as champ is finally coming to an end and he’s taking a longer break than normal after the event?
I also noticed that Randy Orton is on the poster, but CM Punk is nowhere to be found. Randy and CM did return to WWE on the same night at Survivor Series 2023 but only one of them is missing from this graphic, so it’s something that might be worth thinking about.
The more likely case is that none of this is worth thinking about on a random Thursday night five months before the event takes place, and I should probably find something else to do with my time. Hey, does anybody have a good video game to recommend?
Let me know in the comments below if you think there is any signal within the noise I presented above, Cagesiders.
