CM Punk moved the needle on Roman Reigns’ show

Coming off its smallest audience on FOX this year, the Dec. 8 SmackDown figured to bounce back with a heavily promoted appearance from the recently returned CM Punk.

According to Wrestlenomics, it did just that. The most recent SmackDown was watched by 2,384,000 total viewers and did a .63 rating with 18-49 year olds. Both numbers are up from the week prior. It’s the best number the blue show’s done in the demo since Oct. 6’s Fastlane go home that advertised appearances by John Cena, LA Knight, Cody Rhodes & Jey Uso, and the biggest overall audience since the Oct. 13 “season premiere” with Roman Reigns.

SmackDown was also up in both metrics compared to the same week in 2022.

Punk isn’t being advertised for this Friday, but Roman Reigns is. We’ll see if that settles the whole “needle mover” debate. In the meantime, here’s a rundown of the past year’s worth of SmackDown’s numbers:
