After signing Jade Cargill in September, WWE did a pretty amazing job introducing the former AEW titleholder to their fans and making her seem like a big deal. After having her debut on each of their brands and even teasing a few very high profile feuds, however, the 31 year old hasn’t been seen on television in weeks.
On Saturday night (Nov. 26) at the post-Survivor Series press conference, Triple H talked about the company’s approach to Cargill’s rollout. His remarks were largely interpreted as meaning Jade needed more training before she starts to actually wrestle for WWE — and as a not-so-subtle dig at AEW. But he did close by saying Cargill will be back on television when she says she’s ready.
That part fit right into what Jade’s been saying, so it’s not surprising she posted this on X/Twitter after her boss’ comments made the rounds online:
Also, like I said. It’s on MY time ⏳— Jade Cargill (@Jade_Cargill) November 26, 2023
It’s in character, but smart to do whatever she can to reframe the narrative away from “she’s not ready” or “she’s too green”. And this careful approach makes sense. As the saying goes, you never get a second chance to make a first impression, so it’s better to make sure she looks great when she does something physical on screen than risk that moment going viral for the wrong reasons.
But if Jade’s time doesn’t come by Royal Rumble, it’ll take more than a tweet to change the conversation.
