Alpha Academy is, without question, one of the better parts of Monday Night Raw each week. They’re a consistently entertaining bunch who are deeply talented at character work, in ring skills, or both.
We saw two damn good examples of that on this week’s episode from Grand Rapids.
First, Maxxine teamed up with Ivy Nile in a Fatal 4-Way to determine who would be next to challenge for the women’s tag team titles. Natalya & Tegan Nox may have emerged victorious but it was Maxxine and Nile who stole the show, getting themselves over as plucky underdogs the fans were cheering hard for by the end of it.
There may be something there in the future.
Later, Chad Gable had yet another in a long line of awesome TV matches, this time against Shinsuke Nakamura. He, too, was defeated but anyone paying attention can see the value each member of the group brings to the table.
It’s time to give all of them something more noteworthy and/or just give them a lot more TV time.
