WWE NXT results, live blog (Aug. 2, 2022): Two Tag Title Tilts

Here’s a place to check results and comment along with the newest episode of WWE NXT, airing live on Tuesday night at 8PM Eastern time slot on USA Network.

Advertised for tonight from the WWE Performance Center: Women’s Tag champs will be crowned when four teams battle for the vacant belts, and Tony D’Angelo & Stacks challenge The Creeds for the men’s Tag titles. Plus, Carmelo Hayes issues a North American championship open challenge, Solo Sikoa & Von Wagner settle their issues in a Falls Count Anywhere match, Sarray gets an opportunity against Mandy Rose, Bron Breakker & JD McDonagh summit ahead of their Heatwave match in two weeks... and more!

Ivy Nile & Tatum Paxley vs. Katana Chance & Kayden Carter vs. Toxic Attraction (Gigi Dolin & Jacy Jayne) vs. Valentina Feroz & Yulisa Leon (NXT Women’s Tag Team Championship Elimination Match)

Paxley and Carter to start, collar and elbow, struggling around the ring, right into the Toxics’ corner and Jayne tags in over Kayden. Side headlock from Tatum, shot off, shoulder block, Jacy tags out in a panic and Dolin comes in. Arm wringer sets up a senton, cover for two.

Nile in, hammerlock and a lariat, tag to Tatum, working Gigi over, tags made and Leon and Feroz start working Kayden over. Carter lays Valentina out with a superkick, gets pulled to the floor by the Diamond Mine gals, Chance with a plancha and Yulisa press slams her own partner to wipe everybody out on the floor!

Leon off the ropes, tope con giro! Back inside, straight suplex on Paxley, quick tag to Feroz but Ivy breaks it up! Assisted alarm clock, Nile legal...

Ivy Nile & Tatum Paxley eliminate Valentina Feroz & Yulisa Leon by pinfall with an assisted alarm clock.

Toxics quick to come in and work Nile over, folding press for two, enzuigiri, tags made and it’s Chance on Paxley. Tatum hosses her up, Katana slips down but she stays on her for a delayed vertical suplex... NOPE! Ivy back in, blasting Chance with a kick in the corner for two! Quick tags, trying to work them over, Katana floats over, lands a boot, leapfrog, cartwheel into a headscissors driver... NOPE!

Toxics in, Jacy steals one...

Toxic Attraction eliminate Ivy Nile & Tatum Paxley by pinfall.

Toxics running hot, stereo corner attacks, running hot, STO from Dolin on Carter... NOPE! Roll-through, superkick from Kayden, still just a two count! Chance in, she gets a nearfall of her own, Gigi shoves her off, boot to the arm, back suplex, tag to Jayne! Off the ropes, Cyclone Kill and a legsweep but Carter breaks it up with a kick!

All four women down and out, Katana and Jacy legal, back on their feet and slugging it out, Sole Food from Chance and she tags Carter in! Looking for the neckbreaker, Gigi pulls her out of the ring and Katana dives on her! Kayden back inside, O’Connor roll, nope, Chance with a kick to the face from the apron and she tags back in!

Up top...

Katana Chance & Kayden Carter win, last eliminating Toxic Attraction by pinfall with the 450 splash / hangman’s neckbreaker combo to become the NEW NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions.

Backstage, Briggs and Jensen are interviewed.

Brooks Jensen admits he’s a virgin and Josh Briggs says they get back on the horse no matter what, and the Schism rolls up.

Joe Gacy talks to Jensen about his dad and says he was more successful than Cameron Grimes’ dad. Brooks threatens him with a punch and Gacy invites him to witness his special message to Grimes in person, later tonight.

Carmelo Hayes and Trick Williams are in the ring for a promo.

Trick says they’ve been starting drama and taking baby mamas, and they’re here to celebrate now because it’s the A Champ’s birthday. Hayes says everybody knows he’s a money player who makes money moves, and the move for tonight is an open challenge for his title.

The very next person in this ring can step up and get stepped on...

...and it’s Giovanni Vinci!


Carmelo Hayes (c) vs. Nathan Frazer (NXT North American Championship Open Challenge)

Giovanni Vinci joins commentary instead.

Headlock takeovers, ducking lariats, double leg into a jackknife pin for two! Hanging Frazer up in the ropes, ducking and dodging, hanging facebreaker into the Fadeaway... NOPE! Quebrada, nobody home, Hayes with a springboard lariat... NOPE! Action to the floor, Nathan starts turning it around, return to the ring and laying right hands in.

Flying forearms, Lou Thesz Press into mounted punches, Frazer off the top with the Phoenix Splash, nobody home! On his feet, superkick, cover... STILL NO! Nathan hits a tope that makes Vinci leap out of his seat, back inside, Giovanni with a cheap shot, Hayes off the top...

Carmelo Hayes wins by pinfall with the diving leg drop to retain the NXT North American Championship.

We go backstage with JD McDonagh and Bron Breakker walking to send us to break.

Back from commercial, we get a Solo Sikoa video package.

Wade Barrett is in the ring to host a summit between JD McDonagh and Bron Breakker ahead of their match.

McDonagh says he doesn’t want to talk about last week, he wants to talk about here and now and the near future. He’s never been in the ring with anyone like Bron, and he can see the passion in his eyes and for him that’s a stimulant. He says he’s gonna tear Breakker’s muscles off his bones and the only sound sweeter than his screams of agony will be the announcement of him as the winner and new champion.

Bron says JD might be the smartest superstar he’s ever set foot in the ring with, because he knows not to challenge his strength or speed, but his mind. Everyone has a plan until he breaks them in half, and the fact is, when the title is on the line, he’s an animal.

McDonagh says at Heatwave everything Bron said will come true, but the difference between them is that he welcomes pain. Barrett gets the contract out and asks JD to sign it, but he doesn’t want to sign it first. Breakker obliges and Wade passes the contract to McDonagh.

JD says this summit won’t end in violence, but to show how serious he is, it will end in blood. McDonagh signs in blood! JD offers his bloody hand to Bron to shake, but Breakker simply holds the title up.

Apollo Crews is backstage with the Creed Brothers.

They all talk about how their fans of each other and the Creeds invite him to come roll with them any time. Crews tells them to watch their back out there because everything isn’t what it seems. Brutus takes offense but Julius talks him down, saying he gets what Apollo is saying.

Crews leaves and Damon Kemp comes along to say that Roderick Strong texted him saying he was running late but he’ll be ringside for the match.

Gigi Dolin and Jacy Jayne are screaming and losing their mind over losing when Mandy Rose rolls up to join them in screaming and squawking when an interview rolls up. Jacy threatens to “lose it” if the microphone gets pointed in her face and the interviewer walks off.

Mandy makes her entrance and we go to break.

Mandy Rose vs. Sarray

Match joined in progress, Rose counters a dive into mounted punches, cover for two! Putting boots to her in the corner, Sarray with a wheelbarrow but Mandy counters with a facebuster for two! Dropkick follows, pressing the attack, off the second with a missile dropkick! Pulling Rose in, fisherman suplex into the bridge... NOPE!

Mandy Rose wins by pinfall with the knee strike.

Post-match, Rose gets a chair and brings it in the ring, hammering the back of Sarray’s knee with it repeatedly! Before she can do a Pillmanizer... ZOEY STARK MAKES THE SAVE! Mandy runs away!

We get a Tiffany Stratton video package showing off her gymnastics skills and go to break.

Back from commercial, Axiom is interviewed backstage.

Duke Hudson rolls up to say it’s anyone’s ballgame around here, well except for Axiom, who’s undersized and underpowered and it’s night and day between the two of them. Axiom says he’s not afraid, Duke calls him a nerd and drops him and they go brawling down the hallways!

They brawl all the way to the ring, where Hudson shoves him into the ring for a series of kicks and a Black Hole Slam! Duke gets on the mic and says that’s why you don’t believe in your heroes.

As he walks away, Axiom gets on the mic and says he’ll prove that he can make it right here, right now!

Axiom vs. Duke Hudson

Duke boots Axiom off the top and to the floor! Back inside, Axiom fires up, a kick, but he eats a Rock Bottom out of the corner! Up for a Razor’s Edge, Axiom sends him crashing into the turnbuckles, satellite...

Axiom wins by pinfall with a victory roll.

Wes Lee is interviewed backstage.

He talks about how it bugs him that Trick Williams thinks he’s the second coming of Muhammad Ali. He talks about all the ways Williams falls short of Ali and challenges him to a boxer vs. wrestler match next week with rounds.

Diamond Mine (Brutus & Julius Creed) (c) vs. the Family (Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo & Tony D’Angelo) (NXT Tag Team Championship)

Julius & Tony to start, side headlock, block the shoot off, headlock takeover, D’Angelo forces him into the ropes and tags out to Lorenzo. Tag to Brutus, fireman’s carry, gator roll, Tony tags back in, Crash Landing and we go to break.

Back from commercial, Stacks has Julius in an ankle lock but Creed kicks him away and tags Brutus in! Lorenzo bails to the floor, back in, and Creed pounces him back to the floor! Back inside, Channing with a lariat, smashing Brutus’ hand into the steel steps, grinding the web of his fingers into the top rope, tag to D’Angelo.

Stamping at the hand, Brutus in trouble, heat segment in full effect but Stacks clubs him down and stomps his hand! Tags made, Julius hammers D’Angelo with a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker, sending Channing packing, overhook suplex for Tony! Big forearm, right hand, belly-to-belly suplex sets him up, off the ropes, leapfrog, dropkick!

Wilde and Del Toro running interference, Elektra Lopez slips D’Angelo the crowbar but Santos Escobar is here to stop him! Julius is on the case, cartwheel DDT sets him up, Joaquin and Cruz pull Stacks out of the ring...

Creed Brothers win by pinfall with the falling lariat from Julius Creed on Tony D’Angelo to retain the NXT Tag Team Championship.

Legado del Fantasma stand tall.

Roxanne Perez gets a video package talking about how she doesn’t understand why Cora Jade turned on her but now she doesn’t ever want to be associated with her again, and challenges her to a match at Heatwave.

Cora Jade is interviewed backstage.

She won’t take the match, and Mandy Rose rolls up and asks Cora to take Zoey Stark out. Cora says that’s a one-sided deal that only benefits her, hard pass. Mandy tries to sell her on doing it because she’ll get a title shot out of it. Jade says she’ll give it some thought.

Briggs and Jensen make their entrance to send us to break.

Back from commercial, we get a Von Wagner video package.

Katana Chance & Kayden Carter are interviewed backstage.

Chance is weepy talking about how they finally won the tag titles, and Carter says Katana is her rock, they’ve been through good times and bad but never stopped pushing each other and all that sacrifice made this moment sweeter.

Brooks Jensen vs. Joe Gacy

Collar and elbow, Jensen with corner lariats and a back body drop! A lil two-step, right hands, a bolo punch takes Gacy off his feet! Drive-By dropkick, Joe rolls him through and plants him with a DDT! Trading punches, Joe with a falling forearm in the corner! Gacy hangs himself upside down and plants Brooks with a Rock Bottom!

Elbow drop follows, Briggs occupied on the floor by the Dyad, Pretty Deadly run in, chaos everywhere...

Joe Gacy wins by pinfall with a lariat.

Post-match, Gacy tells Cameron Grimes his life has been defined by disappointment and loss and that’s no way to live, so he’s reaching out to him. He can feel the emptiness in his soul.

Grimes is shown watching backstage and he storms off.

Tony D’Angelo is on the phone getting mad at somebody and he hands up, yelling at Stacks about how Santos is why he doesn’t have anything nice. Santos calls him and asks him how his jaw is doing. Tony asks where he is, and Escobar says they’re almost even, and everybody knows they can’t work for each other or against each other.

D’Angelo says they need to solve it just the two of them, and Santos says it’s on. He asks D’Angelo where he wants to meet, and Tony says he’s got just the place.

Alba Fyre makes her entrance and we go to break.

Alba Fyre vs. Lash Legend

Match is joined in progress.

Legend in control, wrenching a back-to-back backbreaker in but Fyre gets the ropes, so she spins it out into a facebreaker! Delayed vertical attempt in the corner, Alba blocks with a headbutt, perching, nobody home on the dive! Lash gets the baseball bat, Fyre clocks her with a superkick, a second, the KLR Bomb connects! Up top again...

Trick Williams is talking up his match against Wes Lee to Carmelo Hayes when they run into some girls with car trouble and volunteer to help, and we go to break.

Back from commercial we get a Nikkita Lyons promo where she says she owns who she is and she’s proud of where she came from, and if Kiana James wants to change her mind, she can come find her in the ring next week.

Solo Sikoa vs. Von Wagner (Falls Count Anywhere Match)

Sikoa right in with punches, an elbow, Wagner rolls to the floor and he gives chase, laying him out with a shoulder block and following it with a senton, cover... NOPE! Back in the ring, Stinger Splash, scoop and a slam, falling headbutt for two! Back to the floor, Wagner in control with judicious application of the steel steps.

Sliding the bottom step into the ring, back inside, wailing on Solo with a steel chair, setting two chairs up, he slams Sikoa into them for a two count! Solo takes him outside where Carmelo and Trick are partying with those girls and Sikoa piefaces him into the back seat!

Von throws him into a container, fireman’s carry into a dumpster! Wagner shuts the lid on him and leaves like he won the match, but Solo pops up and climbs out! Right hands, backing Wagner off, throwing him into a loading bay door, hammering him with knees, and they end up back inside the arena!

Wagner back suplexes him through a table, cover... STILL NO! All the way back to ringside, Sikoa lighting him up with punches, a superkick, fireman’s carry into the Samoan Drop and he’s fired up! Walloping Von with a steel chair, a Rock Bottom into the steps... NOT ENOUGH!

Solo up top, Robert Stone runs in and grabs his leg but Sikoa pulls him up and knocks him down with a headbutt! Back on the floor, Solo with a pair of superkicks to put Wagner on the announce table, up top... DIVING SPLASH THROUGH THE TABLE! HE GETS HIS ARMS ON VON...

Solo Sikoa wins by pinfall with a diving splash through the annouce table.
