Advertised for tonight: Edge is back to try to find an opponent for the big show again. They’re teasing that someone will answer the call this week. Meanwhile, Damian Priest issued an open challenge for his United States championship last week and Finn Balor showed up to set up a match for this week. No word on whether or not WWE Champion Brock Lesnar will appear but expect more from Becky Lynch and Bianca Belair. All that and more!
Come right back here at 8 p.m. ET when the Raw live blog will kick off once the show starts on SyFy. It will be below this line here.
WWE RAW RESULTS AND LIVE BLOG FOR FEB. 28
Hey folks! No lyrics today, because it’s the fourth anniversary of a very special day in my life and that means y’all get a PSA instead!
Four years ago right now I was at absolute rock bottom, in a losing battle with that week’s edition of Sermon on the Mat, the sludge and depression nearly overwhelming.
But I persisted and I pushed through and I buttoned it up and scheduled it for publishing the next morning and just kind of sank back into my chair, the weight of the world upon me, a steadily shrinking world in front of me.
11:30 pm Eastern. No life. No hope. No future.
And then, after a lifetime of struggle, a light bulb appeared over my head, and I said the words “I am a woman.” out loud to myself for the first time.
And then the floodgates opened, and slowly but surely, step by step, I began my transition into the solid 7/10 petticoated lesbian housewife who can’t stop posting selfies on Twitter you see before you, and being myself is hands down the best decision I’ve ever made.
If I can do it, you can do it. If you want to be a girl, you can be a girl. If you want to be a boy, you can be a boy. If you want to carve your own nonbinary path, you can do that, too. I believe in each and every one of you, Cagesiders.
PS— every now and again somebody comes along in the comments and snarks about how I should stick to calling moves instead of sharing my “lifestyle,” but visibility is important, and I know I’ve helped several of y’all come to terms with yourself and I love you and I will *never* ever stop being myself, loud and proud on the biggest stage I can, not as long as there’s even one more person who might be able to see a little bit of themselves in me and think “hey I can do it.”
On with the show!
The show opens with the intro video.
Kevin Owens makes his entrance wearing a fancy hat.
He gets on the mic and introduces his tag partner and best friend, Seth Rollins.
They get in the ring and KO welcomes us to the Kevin Owens Show. He admits it hasn’t been the best year for them, given that they haven’t secured a spot on the WrestleMania card yet. Kev admits his disdain for Texas might be a distraction but nothing will stop him from winning the tag titles next week.
Nothing will distract him from that, not the people of Texas, not Texas legends like JBL, not even this stupid cowboy hat he’s wearing.
Enter Alpha Academy.
Chad Gable thanks Owens for having him and Kev points out that he says “thank you” weird. Chad takes it as a compliment and says it’s a nice show but all he sees is a couple asses making ass-umptions. Gable berates the crowd for booing and complains about his team’s win percentage going down now that it’s a three-way, and KO says it’s just business.
Gable calls them pathetic and says they’ve already had their shot at WrestleMania and he’s never even been on the show. Seth says winning the tag titles and giving the Alphas a WrestleMania rematch would make it a win-win, and they all bicker at each other. Owens and Gable get in each other’s face, kick to the gut, Stunner!
And so we go to break.
Alpha Academy (Chad Gable & Otis Dozovic) vs. Kevin Owens & Seth Rollins
Back from commercial, match in progress and Alpha Academy are largely in control on Rollins after a wicked uraken from Dozer. Quick tags, Seth rolls away from a Vader Bomb and makes the tag! Blasting Gable off the apron before the tag, cannonball connects! Dumping Chad to the floor, cannonball off the apron takes both of them out!
Big splash off the apron but Otis pops up and runs him over as we go to break.
Back from commercial, Dozovic has a neck crank in on Owens. Hard whip to the corner, tag to Gable, KO gets an enzuigiri for some separation and the path is clear... TAG MADE! Rollins in hot with lariats, off the ropes, Sling Blade connects! Rolling elbow takes Otis out, reverse STO into the turnbuckles, springboard knee connects!
Falcon Arrow follows... NOPE! The match breaks down briefly, Seth dives on Dozer, KO with a schoolboy for two! German suplex dumps Kev on the back of his neck and Gable drags him into position, nobody home on the moonsault! Rollins tags in, buckle bomb sets up the Stunner sets up the charge...
Kevin Owens & Seth Rollins win by pinfall with Blackout from Rollins on Chad Gable.
We get a hype reel for Omos.
Omos is interviewed in Gorilla.
He cuts the interviewer off and says since he debuted at WrestleMania last year he’s dominated everyone, and tonight he’s gonna dominate T-BAR, too.
Omos makes his entrance to send us to break.
Omos vs. T-BAR
Omos blasts T-BAR off the apron before the bell and throws his limp body back in the ring! Throwing him hard into the turnbuckles, referee Aja Perera checks on him and T-BAR wants to go!
We get a bell and Omos immediately drops him and gets him up...
Omos wins by pinfall with the chokebomb.
Doudrop and Nikki ASH cut a promo backstage.
Nikki says she’s the real hero in this story, and Doudrop says tonight she’s just fine with being a villain. Becky Lynch joins them and says the only thing that matters is winning, and she’s willing to do whatever it takes to be declared the winner.
They make their entrance and we go to break.
Back from commercial, Rhea Ripley and Liv Morgan are chatting in Gorilla.
Liv says tonight isn’t going to be easy and asks Ripley about strategy. She says brutality is her strategy, and Bianca Belair rolls up. She asks for them to let her have Becky Lynch when she tags in because she’s overdue for a KOD.
Becky Lynch, Doudrop, & Nikki ASH vs. Bianca Belair, Liv Morgan, & Rhea Ripley
Lynch and Belair to start, circling, Becky immediately tags out to ASH. Bianca tags Morgan in, a headscissors leads to Doudrop tagging in. Pushing Liv back, soon enough babyfaces clear the ring, step-up plancha takes the heels out on the floor and we go to break!
Back from commercial, Lynch gets a nearfall out of reversing a vertical suplex from Belair, they go to the corner and jockey for position, and a yank of the braid puts Bianca hard into the post! Tying her braid to the top rope, Becky kicks away at her and forces referee Danilo Anfibio to untie her!
Lynch posing on the second for the guillotine leg drop, only two! Ripley tags in hot, short-arm lariats, ripcord kick to the midsection and then a back suplex facebuster! Big headbutt, cravate knee lifts, snapmare into a missile dropkick! Electric chair facebuster... DOUDROP BREAKS IT UP!
Belair and ASH tag in, Glam Slam connects, handspring, Lynch pulls the EST to the floor! Liv in, suicide dive wipes out Big Time Becks! Doudrop blasts her off the apron in turn, Rhea with a dropkick, Nikki off the top with a crossbody! Thrust spinebuster plants ASH but Lynch pulls Bianca off by her braid!
Whip across, Belair cracks her braid across Lynch’s midsection and whips away at her, leaving nasty raised welts all over her tum! ASH tries to steal it, kick out, right hand, Argentine backbreaker...
Bianca Belair, Liv Morgan, & Rhea Ripley win by pinfall with KOD from Belair on Nikki ASH.
Dirty Dawgz make their entrance to send us to break.
Back from commercial, Tommaso Ciampa gets an inset promo where he promises Robert Roode a “grown man lesson.”
Robert Roode vs. Tommaso Ciampa
Roode hot out the gates but Ciampa evens the odds when they go to the floor. Big lariat, getting into it with Dolph Ziggler, Tom goes back inside and lays trapezius elbows and stomps in for one. Whip blocked, spinning spinebuster from Robert for two! Raining punches down, elbow into an inverted DDT... NOPE!
Pad down, Roo sidesteps, blocks Fairytale Ending, victory roll pin for two! Ciampa blasts Dolph with a knee, blocks the Glorious DDT, high stack...
Tommaso Ciampa wins by pinfall with a schoolboy pin.
Post-match, Roode holds Ciampa in place and Dolph drops him with a superkick! Ziggler gets a mic and says Tom got lucky once, but tomorrow night on NXT, he and Bron Breakker step in the ring with two-time tag champions and they’ll prove that the Dirty Dawgz are the dirtiest dogs.
We get a recap of the 24/7 Championship scene of the past few weeks and go to break.
Akira Tozawa & Tamina vs. Dana Brooke & Reggie
Tamina and Brooke to start, whip across, Dana with a tijeras that sends her into the corner. Charging in, handspring back elbow, Snuka gets away and makes the tag. Ducking and dodging, Tozawa nails Reggie with a series of kicks but a legscissors pin nearly ends it!
Akira gets distracted with Dana, Reggie charges in...
Dana Brooke & Reggie win by pinfall with the front flip senton from Reggie on Akira Tozawa.
Post-match, Dana smooches Reggie so hard he falls over!
Tamina pulls Tozawa up and grabs a liplock on him, too, for some reason!
Street Profits are interviewed backstage.
They say beating RK-BRO tonight is their first step back to the tag titles.
And so we go to break.
Back from commercial, the Mysterios cut a promo.
Rey says they’ve accepted Miz’s challenge but because they got humiliated, they’re gonna have to give Miz what’s coming to him.
Enter the Miz.
He takes offense to being called a “Hollywood mega-dumbass” and to Logan Paul being called a fanbody, and offers his accolades up in return, as well as Paul’s. He says the crowd are sick of the same old crap and they don’t want the Mysterios as tag champs again, but he and Logan are bigger, better, and newer.
The Hurt Business make their entrance and we go to break.
Hurt Business (Cedric Alexander & Shelton Benjamin) vs. the Mysterios (Dominik & Rey Mysterio)
Rey Mysterio gets cut off early and the Hurt Business go to work beating him down. Rey snaps off a tijeras for some separation and the path is clear, tags made! Dominik in with a diving crossbody, a tijeras, back body drop to the apron and he snaps Benjamin’s head over the ropes!
Slingshot senton atomico misses but the followup gets two! Big powerslam from Shelton, only two, tornado DDT... NOPE! Action to the floor, Benjamin catches a dive but Mysterio slips out and posts him! The Miz runs interference, Rey runs him off and into the crowd, leaving his son behind...
Hurt Business win by pinfall with a schoolboy pin from Shelton Benjamin on Dominik Mysterio.
RK-BRO are hanging out in Gorilla.
Matt Riddle lists symptoms that sound like he’s high and Randy Orton says he’s fine.
They make their entrance and we go to break.
Back from commercial we get a recap of Naomi and Sasha Banks calling their shot for the tag titles on SmackDown.
Carmella and Queen Zelina Vega are hanging out backstage and chatting. They accept the challenge and I’m pretty sure Carmella threatens to have sex with Corey Graves to celebrate when they retain.
RK-BRO (Matt Riddle & Randy Orton) vs. Street Profits (Angelo Dawkins & Montez Ford)
Back and forth early, Riddle gets a triangle choke but Ford breaks away! Karelin Lift, stomping away, moonsault but Montez gets the knees up! Dawkins tags in, Profits clear the ring, Ford with a cannonball senton off the apron to send us to break!
Back from commercial, hot tag, Orton cleans house with lariats and then hits the snap scoop powerslam! Randy goes to that special place, RKO blocked, Montez hits an enzuigiri and goes up top, frog splash, he’s slow to capitalize but Dawkins keeps Orton from putting his feet on the ropes...
Street Profits win by pinfall with a frog splash from Montez Ford on Randy Orton.
We get a recap of the KO/Rollins win.
Seth and Kevin are interviewed backstage. They crow about how they’re gonna win the titles and go on to WrestleMania, and Owens says the best part is gonna be leaving Texas afterwards.
Finn Balor makes his entrance to send us to break.
Back from commercial, Veer Mahaan is still coming. Somebody get that guy some lotion or at least a glass of water, c’mon!
Damian Priest makes his entrance and we go to break.
Back from commercial, Austin Theory is in Vincent Kennedy McMahon’s office.
Theory talks Pat McAfee up and points out that Vince hasn’t down a sit-down interview in twenty years and asks what happens if Pat jumps him, offering to be there and have his back. McMahon says it’s not that kind of show.
Damian Priest (c) vs. Finn Balor (WWE United States Championship)
Circling, collar and elbow, Priest shoves him back, Balor grabs a side headlock and gets manually lifted into the ropes. Shot off, shoulder block, Damian follows it up with a back elbow, whip reversed, lighting Finn up with body blows in the corner. Charging elbow, rear chinlock with a knee to the back to grind the challenger down.
Cover for two, reverse chinlock applied, Balor with a back body drop and a basement dropkick, Priest to the floor and we go to break.
Back from commercial, Priest with a Rock Bottom for two! Probing kicks, Balor cuts him off with a chop, leg kick gets a clap of the ears, elbow gets the Pele kick and both men are down and out! Boots up in the corner, hammering the champion with forearms, flying forearm connects, double stomp follows!
Shoulder thrusts, Priest gets him up on a shoulder but Finn slips out and hits Sling Blade! Double stomp off the top misses, big lariat from Damian, reverse to a victory roll, only two! Jumping kick from the champion sets up a roundhouse kick and then South of Heaven... NOPE!
Reckoning blocked, shotgun dropkick, Finn off the top...
Finn Balor wins by pinfall with Coup de Grace, becoming your new WWE United States Champion.
Post-match, Damian Priest blames the fans for helping Finn win the match and says he never heard that motivation and respect from them, no matter how much they busted ass. He drops Balor with a lariat and throws him out of the ring! He throws Balor over the announce table!
Edge makes his entrance and we go to break.
Back from commercial, Edge gets on the mic.
He asks Columbus if they want to see who’s gonna show up to challenge him for WrestleMania and begs somebody to step up.
Enter AJ Styles!
He gets on the mic and accepts the challenge! Edge says he’s happy because they’ve both wanted this match for a long time, and he doesn’t want the guy who’s been playing tag team bitch, he wants the real AJ Styles! He offers a hand, AJ accepts and Edge decks him and wails on him with punches in the corner!
Styles fires back with punches of his own and the Pele Kick! AJ’s fired up and he goes to the apron but Edge ducks the Phenomenal Forearm and kicks him in the gentleman’s area! Raining mounted elbows down on a prone Styles, a haunted look comes over Edge’s eyes as he gets up.
He goes to leave and hesitates before storming around and grabbing some chairs from the timekeeper’s area! Sliding back in the ring, Edge puts one chair under AJ’s head and goes and grabs the other chair... CON-CHAIR-TO!
That’s the show, folks.
