WWE CROWN JEWEL QUICK RESULTS

WWE CROWN JEWEL LIVE BLOG & MATCH COVERAGE

No lyrics today. As is my standard practice with these shows, I’m going to use my platform here to express my unhappiness with WWE’s relationship with Saudi Arabia. More specifically, owing to my nature as a queer polyamorous trans woman, Saudi Arabia is, uh... not very friendly to people like me, and so seeing WWE act as a propaganda arm for this regime really sucks sometimes.

It’s only though happenstance, through the accidental details of my birth, to a family that supports me, in a country that (despite increasing amounts of transphobia in the media) is basically supportive of my right to exist, that I’ve been able to be the woman that I am, to find love with my gorgeous wife and my beautiful girlfriends, and it breaks my heart to think of my brothers, sisters, and nonbinary siblings who weren’t so lucky.

Additionally so it is an additional stressor that the Kingdom Holding Company (effectively owned by Prince Alwaleed) now owns approximately 4% of Twitter. Twitter has long been a community hub for queer people and especially the transgender community, and it is the place where I met my wife and my girlfriends. Grappling with the knowledge that interests so overtly hostile to our existence will now have influence over such a large social media platform is intimidating, to say the least. (Thanks to my gorgeous lady wife for pointing that last bit out— I had more I wanted to say today but I ran out of time because these Saturday afternoon shows are killer on my timing with my routine.)

But as always, I refuse to sit back and leave my colleagues here at Cageside Seats, who have played such a huge part in making me feel comfortable to be out and proud as the woman I am (and who have no problem with calling WWE’s Saudi deal out for exactly what it is), high and dry, so I’m liveblogging the show.

On with the show!

The show opens with Titus O’Neil narrating a video package about how great Crown Jewel is.

Bobby Lashley vs. Brock Lesnar

Lashley with a blitz early, rushing Lesnar on the floor and injuring his knee, throwing him around the ringside area, back inside, a spear... NOPE! Hurt Lock reversed into a German suplex, another German suplex, the F-5... STILL NO! Bob comes back, sending him back to the floor, fireman’s carry and he puts the Beast into the ringpost!

Back inside, Hurt Lock applied in the middle of the ring, Lesnar claws his way up the turnbuckles...

Brock Lesnar wins by pinfall by reversing the Hurt Lock into a pin.

Post-match, Lashley puts Brock in the Hurt Lock again and chokes him to a more vivid shade of purple than usual.

We get a Liv Morgan video package.

Alexa Bliss and Asuka are interviewed backstage by Byron Saxton, who is wearing an incredibly loud Transformers Generation 2 colored suit. Bliss says you can’t put them on the shelf for a few weeks and get rid of them, this is months of retaliation coming to haunt Damage CTRL.

Alexa Bliss & Asuka (c) vs. Damage CTRL (Dakota Kai & IYO SKY) (WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship)

Bliss and Kai to start, Dakota taking control with an armbar, whip to the corner, up and over, Alexa wants more! To the corner, elbow up, in the turnbuckles, jockeying for position, arm drag reversed to a pin, cover for two. Trading quick pins to no avail, Kai clocks her in the face!

Whip reversed, drop down works for once, but Dakota puts her into the ropes and makes the tag. SKY wants a slam, Bliss floats over and tags out! Circling, off the ropes, IYO with a lariat, Asuka returns the favor with a shoulder block and tags out. Kross with the sleeper, he doesn’t have the arm trapped and Drew is able to ram him into the cage! Northern elbow lays McIntyre out, Karrion circles before deciding to climb the cage, but Drew wakes up and climbs after him!

Scarlett opens the door for her guy to walk through but when Drew cuts him off and beats him down she maces him, shuts it, locks it, and takes away the key! McIntyre climbs as she scrambles to unlock the door and let Karrion crawl out...

Drew McIntyre wins by escaping the cage.

We see Roman Reigns and the Bloodline arriving at the arena, minus Sami Zayn.

Reigns refuses to answer a question about Logan’s “lucky punch” and Solo Sikoa steps to Byron Saxton after. Paul Heyman walks up and mocks the idea of the lucky punch.

Judgment Day (Damian Priest, Dominik Mysterio, & Finn Balor) vs. the OC (AJ Styles, Karl Anderson, & Luke Gallows)

Balor and Anderson to start, waistlock, front kicks, back and forth as I get distracted by Michael Cole talking about Karl being the NEVER Openweight Championship, what a world we live in. Tags made, Styles working Dominik over, backbreaker, into the corner, tag to Gallows and the big man crushes the younger Mysterio!

Big bodyslam, off the ropes for an elbow drop, taking him into the turnbuckles, quick tags, AJ lays him out with a sheerdrop brainbuster! A little bit of action on the floor sees Anderson laid out by a thrust kick from Priest and now it’s Judgment Day in control!

POUNCE BLOCKED WITH A BODY AVALANCHE! Back inside, looking for the chokebomb, Strowman blocks, Omos throws him into the corner, off the ropes, sidestep the charge!

Braun gets him up...

Braun Strowman wins by pinfall with the running powerslam.

Brawling Brutes (Pete “Butch” Dunne & Ridge Holland) vs. the Usos (Jimmy & Jey Uso) (c) (WWE Unified Tag Team Championship)

Back inside, Bayley brings a chair with her, moonsault up and over and Belair dropkicks her in the chair!

The Role Model has a ladder now, she slides in in the ring but ends up fighting her near the steps! Suplex on the floor, she puts Bianca in a chair and nails her with a diving lariat off the barricade! Bayley sets up a table but Belair recovers, suplex blocked, right hands, suplex on the ramp!

Bianca Belair wins when Bayley can’t answer the standing ten count, retaining the WWE Raw Women’s Championship.

Bray Wyatt makes his entrance.

He gets on the mic and says he comes from a very prestigious wrestling family. Some might say that they’re even larger than life, so from the time he was a little child, all he ever wanted to be was great, but great wasn’t good enough. He had to be greater than the rest of them, the greatest of all of them.

He did what he thought he needed to do, he gave in so much he made a monster of himself, and he wore that mask with pride. It didn’t take him long to understand that while he was wearing that mask, he no longer felt pain or fear. In the mask, he was completely untouchable, and that type of thing feels good.

Some might say that sensations like that are just about impossible to quit, and that’s how he felt. He found himself in a kingdom of nothingness, sitting on an island by himself, and this monster he made himself into destroyed him and ran off everyone he ever loved.

So he sat by himself, no one to love him, nowhere to run, alone. The crowd chants they love him, but he says no one loves him, they love the idea of him and the things he’s capable of. Even he doesn’t love himself, but that’s not the ending of his story.

That’s not the man he wants to be remembered as. He says his name is Bray Wyatt a few times and he’s here to rewrite the ending to his story.

The masked man appears on the tron and asks why wear a mask as he takes it off, revealing Uncle Howdy. He says it must hurt forcing yourself to be something you’re not. You can fool them, but you can’t fool him, and do you think they’d still love you if they knew the truth?

The truth is he’s gonna go too far and he’s gonna give in, so why wait? When he does he’ll remember just how good it feels. And if you’re worried about the aftermath, just leave the mask on.

Logan Paul vs. Roman Reigns (c) (WWE Undisputed Universal Championship)

Circling, collar and elbow, Reigns shoves him into the corner and laughs, throwing the one up. Back to the lockup, this time in the corner Paul shoves at him and gets in his face! A shoving match breaks out, Logan feeling frisky, Roman with a go-behind, standing switch, waistlock takedown from the challenger!

Reigns with a standing switch, takedown of his own, fireman’s carry from Paul gets a big slicing right! Roman ducks the punch and takes a breather on the floor! Back inside, Logan tells the Tribal Chief to stop running and Reigns pushes him into the corner. Dirty break with a right hand, whip across, big back elbow lays him out!

Straight suplex, cover, overhead elbows, body blows from Paul, Roman off the ropes, shoulder block, hip toss and Reigns is starting to worry! A clothesline sends the champion over the ropes and to the floor! Logan follows out after him and throws him over the timekeeper’s barricade.

Paul throws a crossbody off the barricade, throwing Reigns back inside, Buckshot lariat takes him off his feet... NOPE! Superman Punch takes Logan down and Roman takes a breather. Putting boots to him, Reigns with a half Camel Clutch, talking trash, telling Paul that there ain’t gonna be no more YouTubers coming around!

Logan powers up out of it, Roman whips him across, sidestep the charge, Karelin lift and both men are down and out! Slowly rising to their feet, trading shots, Paul with a lariat, a back elbow, knocking Reigns down, scoop lift, float over, into the corner, back elbow, diving blockbuster... STILL NO!

Whip across, Logan hits a Superman Punch but he can’t capitalize! Paul to his feet, fired up, circling, diving crossbody sets up a standing moonsault... SO CLOSE! Logan tuning up the band as Roman rises, block the superkick... ROCK BOTTOM CAN’T QUITE KEEP LOGAN PAUL DOWN!

Calling for it, Paul sidesteps the Superman Punch... THE LUCKY PUNCH! ROMAN’S STUMBLING! ANOTHER PUNCH... ROMAN REIGNS WILL NOT LOSE TO THIS YOUTUBE JAMOKE IN HIS THIRD MATCH! To the floor, setting Reigns up on the announce desk, Paul taking selfes with his crew at ringside, little bit of video, up top... CROSSBODY OFF THE TOP AND THROUGH THE ANNOUNCE TABLE!

The Usos hit the ringside area and pull Logan’s pals out of the front row and beat them up! Jey takes one in the ring to lay him out with a superkick! Jimmy brings the other one and he eats a superkick too! Jake Paul makes the save! He drops both Usos with terrible punches!

He throws Roman back in the ring for his brother, Logan off the top... REIGNS KICKS OUT OF THE FROG SPLASH! Solo Sikoa evens the odds! Road agents and referees come down to moderate, Logan slides back in... SUPERMAN PUNCH LAYS HIM OUT! Roaring...

Roman Reigns wins by pinfall with the spear to retain the WWE Undisputed Universal Championship.

The Bloodline stands tall while Jake Paul tends to his brother.

That’s the show, folks.
