During this week’s episode of NXT TV, the last before the big rebrand hits the Performance Center in Orlando, Florida on Sept. 14, William Regal said Samoa Joe will be a fighting champion and they need to figure out his next opponent.
To that end:
HUGE NEWS
— WWE NXT (@WWENXT) September 8, 2021
NEXT WEEK on #WWENXT, @NXTCiampa vs. @KORcombat vs. @LAKnightWWE vs. @PeteDunneYxB in a #Fatal4Way Match to determine #NXTChampion @SamoaJoe's next challenger! @RealKingRegal pic.twitter.com/wxSktQjYAq
He booked a Fatal 4-Way pitting all the top guys who have been flirting with the main event scene and/or a match with Joe anyway: Kyle O’Reilly vs. Pete Dunne vs. Tommaso Ciampa vs. LA Knight.
Knight is something of an interesting inclusion, though he did defeat Johnny Gargano last week. O’Reilly is fresh off his win over Adam Cole, who has since exited the promotion altogether. Ciampa beat Ridge Holland a week ago and Dunne got himself involved off that. He is perhaps the most compelling opponent here, considering he spent a number of weeks staring Joe down even before he became champion.
Maybe it’s time we get around to paying that off.
See you next week.
