Last week’s episode of Monday Night Raw featured Damien Priest defeating both Drew McIntyre and Sheamus in a triple threat match for the United States championship. Naturally, then, WWE went ahead and booked McIntyre vs. Sheamus in a number one contender match for Monday Night Raw this week.
Yeah.
The two actually had a pretty damn good match, all things considered. They’ve got good chemistry together and they’re two big bastards just fine with blasting each other. They did plenty of that. It was good.
The finish saw McIntyre rip Sheamus’ facemask off before going for the Brogue Kick, only for Sheamus to counter him by rolling him up and grabbing a hand full of tights. That’s how he got the three count.
So it will be Sheamus vs. Priest for the U.S. title at Extreme Rules on Sun., Sept. 26, 2021, in Columbus, Ohio.
After the match, an enraged McIntyre used the facemask to attack Sheamus, finally getting that Claymore in. No matter. He lost.
The updated match card for Extreme Rules:
- Becky Lynch (c) vs. Bianca Belair (SmackDown women’s championship)
- Bobby Lashley (c) vs. Randy Orton (WWE championship)
- Damian Priest (c) vs. (United States championship)
