Before the Tag Team Turmoil match to determine the number one contender to the Raw tag team titles even took place on Monday Night Raw this week, Randy Orton and Bobby Lashley had themselves a verbal sparring session in which they dug at each other for their recent issues. They both want a piece of each other but they also both want what the other has.

Their respective titles.

Orton talked Lashley into defending the WWE championship at the upcoming Extreme Rules pay-per-view (PPV) scheduled for Sun., Sept. 26, 2021, at the Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio. Lashley, for his part, made clear he would take to Adam Pearce and get himself and MVP inserted into the aforementioned Tag Team Turmoil match so he could become a double champion.

We’ll see about that second part.

For now though, one of the top matches for Extreme Rules is set.

Here’s the updated card:

  • Becky Lynch (c) vs. Bianca Belair (SmackDown women’s championship)
  • Bobby Lashley (c) vs. Randy Orton (WWE championship)
  • Damian Priest (c) vs. TBA (U.S. championship)
