WWE NXT RESULTS AND LIVE BLOG FOR SEPT. 28

Stranded like a lily on a pond, stranded! Stranded and I think that I’ve gone wrong. Stranded won’t somebody help me get away. Stranded there between the time of night and day. I’m stranded every way I look, so I suppose I might as well liveblog this pro wrestling show for you, folks.

The show opens with commentary welcoming us to the show.

Hit Row make their entrance and Ashante “Thee” Adonis gets on the mic.

He says tonight is all about the ladies and hypes up our title matches tonight, with Top Dolla chiming in. Isaiah “Swerve” Scott talks up the Cruiserweight Championship match. B-FAB says tonight in her no DQ match, the spotlight is on her and she’s gonna beat the brakes off of Elektra tonight.

B-FAB vs. Elektra Lopez (No Disqualification Match)

Lopez slings her jacket at B-FAB and we’re off with a brawl on the floor! In the ring, we get the bell, they keep slugging it out, a slightly awkward dropkick from B-FAB sends Elektra back to the floor and the beatdown continues! The beatdown continues, they both kind of go into the steel steps and the men of both factions start brawling to send us to break!

Back from commercial, B-FAB is in control and she spikes Lopez’ leg into the opened up legs of the table! Elektra throwing chairs into the ring, slamming B-FAB on them! The Hit Row woman returns fire with a chairshot of her own, kendo stick shots, opening a chair up, Elektra with a crossbody through the chair!

Fireman’s carry gutbuster onto the back of the chair, Lopez hoists her up...

Elektra Lopez wins by pinfall with a sitout powerbomb.

We get a video package of highlights from the In-Dex honeymoon, including Candice LeRae and Johnny Gargano spying on them, up to and including Johnny wearing a shark fin mask to spook them out of the water.

Joe Gacy is hanging out backstage to send us to break.

Back from commercial, Joe Gacy is seated in the middle of the ring.

He says the ring is still our safe space and talks about the impact he made last week before saying he hasn’t been canceled. He made a bigger impact than Tommaso Ciampa, Roderick Strong, and Bron Breakker using only his words. He speaks for a generation that nobody understands except for the enlightened ones. Last week there were nothing but triggered faces in the locker room, but he’s here to usher in a new normal

Oney Lorcan vs. Xyon Quinn

Off the ropes, Quinn knocks Lorcan down and gets piefaced in return. He shoves Oney over the ropes and to the floor and gives pursuit, back inside, a corkscrew uppercut wipes Lorcan out! Oney comes back with a kick to the midsection and an uppercut into grounded punches, chops and uppercuts and jabs in the corner, Xyon shoves him halfway across the ring!

Lorcan with a throat thrust, a chop block, cutting the imposing man down, mounted punches and a reverse chinlock follows. Quinn fights out and rallies, lining him up...

Xyon Quinn wins by pinfall with a flying forearm.

Grayson Waller cuts a promo about how he’s gonna win tonight or what have you.

MSK make their entrance to send us to break.

Back from commercial, MSK are interviewed in the ring.

Nash Carter says that having the tag titles doesn’t mean they’re content, and Wes Lee says they’re gonna keep being fighting champions and it doesn’t matter if it’s the old bulls or the young cats, everybody can step up and get knocked back.

Enter Grizzled Young Veterans.

James Drake scoffs at their claim to be fighting champions and asks where their tag title match is. Zack Gibson says their reign means nothing until they defend against them.

Enter Carmelo Hayes and Trick Williams.

Hayes says if you’re gonna talk about soon to be champs, it’s him you should be talking about, and maybe he’ll tag with his buddy Trick and take those titles right now. Gibson says he doesn’t know what Carmelo’s going on about, but the line to the tag titles starts behind them. Nash tells them to shut up because the champs are talking, and Hayes and Williams can come for the titles but they’ll learn real quick.

As far as GYV goes, they say they’ve proven their better, but if they want to go up again, put meat beaters and they’ll dance.

Enter Briggs & Jensen.

Josh Briggs says they were ready to crack open cold ones but then they heard them talking about the tag titles. Trick tells them to get their cotton-eyed Joe asses out of here, and Brooks Jensen says he woke up and decided the first person to look at him sideways was gonna get popped in the mouth, and we got a brawl! The tag champs dive into the crush with stereo tope con giros!

Raquel Gonzalez cuts a promo about how she’s gonna win tonight. She’s interrupted by Toxic Attraction and Gigi Dolin gives her a rose as they pass by. Mandy Rose says the title looks good on Raquel but it’ll look better on her.

Toxic Attraction make their entrance to send us to break.

Io Shirai & Zoey Stark (c) vs. Toxic Attraction (Gigi Dolin & Jacy Jayne) (NXT Tag Team Championship)

Dolin and Shirai to start, Io with a side headlock, shot off, shoulder block, handsprings, off the ropes, tijeras from Gigi! Shotgun dropkick fires back, tag to Jayne, test of strength fakeout into chops and jawing but Shirai immediately takes her down and beats her up! Tag to Stark, whip reversed, roll under a lariat, legsweep, reversed into a small package, reversed again and again and no pin!

Oklahoma roll for two, whip across, lateral press, only a nearfall! Trading right hands, Zoey whips her into the ropes, gets passed to the apron, ducks some punches and then lands a hook kick, slingshot senton, only two! Tag to Dolin, she comes in with a Penalty Kick, only two! Stark with a jawbreaker into a lariat, Mandy tries to get involved and backs off, and the tag champs do stereo missile dropkicks to knock their challengers to the floor!

Io tags in, off the ropes, Dolin cuts her off with a forearm! Zoey dives on Jacy, Gigi up top, cannonball senton to the floor! Shirai on the turnbuckles... MOONSAULT PRESS TO THE FLOOR SENDS US TO BREAK!

Back from commercial, Dolin with a tijeras to Shirai that puts her in the ropes, tag to Jayne, running knee for two! Drawing her up, straight suplex, tag to Stark! Big German suplex, off the ropes, sliding kick, Dolin breaks it up! Shoved into the ropes, lariat sends Gigi to the floor but Jacy winds up a rolling elbow! Sidestep the pump kick, fireman’s carry, Finlay Roll, springboard, corkscrew senton atomico, nobody home and both women end up wiped out!

Tags made, Io in hot, flapjack, clear the apron, springboard dropkick, cover for two. Arm-trap crossface applied, Mandy puts Dolin’s foot on the ropes! Tag to Zoey, springboard in, caught, Jayne lays Shirai out with a pump kick, bridging German... SOMEHOW ZOEY STARK KICKS OUT! Pumphandle facebreaker, tag to Shirai, Zoey with a plancha to the floor and she keeps Mandy distracted!

Io up top...

Io Shirai & Zoey Stark win by pinfall with the diving moonsault from Shirai on Jayne to retain the NXT Women’s Tag Team Championship.

We get a Bron Breakker video package, including a rare press reel appearance for us here at Cageside Seats.

Boa and Mei Ying make their entrance to send us to break.

Back from commercial, we get a hype reel for the 2022 Royal Rumble announcement.

Tommaso Ciampa is interviewed via satellite from a gym.

He wants to respond to Bron Breakker, and no denying the kid has something special but maybe he shouldn’t go into the Hall of Fame just yet. He understands that Breakker isn’t a patient man, message received loud and clear. But it took him 908 days to get the title that he never lost back, and there’s no doubt in his mind that Bron will get a shot sooner rather than later, but he’s going to drown in an ocean of inexperience.

Andre Chase vs. Boa

Chase with a hammerlock, Boa reverses to a side headlock, Andre with an arm drag into an armbar. Short whips, knee lifts to the midsection, stomp to the hand, Chase with a neckbreaker! Andre putting boots to him, mounted punches, overhead elbow and another stomp to the hand. Kneeling rear chinlock, Boa fires up and gets back to his feet and Chase counters with a mat slam!

Drawing him up, jawing at him, Boa catches a boot, chest kicks, front kick sends Andre to the floor! He turns around and yells at Mei Ying, she spits the mist at him, he goes back inside, pressure point strike...

Boa wins by pinfall with an inverted DDT.

We get another video package for the In-Dex honeymoon.

Candice and Johnny are very worried that they’re not using protection and Gargano roots through their luggage to make sure they have condoms and finds a nice long strip of them. Indi and Dexter return to their room while he’s in there and he hides in the closet, accidentally losing a shoe into the suitcase.

Hartwell and Lumis have a pillow fight but Johnny thinks they’re having sex and makes a bunch of uncomfortable reactions to it. He tries to sneak out and Dexter wakes up and gives him a thumbs up and pulls the strip of condoms out.

Grayson Waller vs. Roderick Strong (c) (NXT Cruiserweight Championship)

Waller starts off hot and we go to break!

Back from commercial, Waller in control, whip to the corner, up and over, STO connects! Up on the second, Strong shoves him over the ropes and to the floor! Back inside, Roddy laying in forearms and chops, piefacing him, hard knees and stomps! Backbreaker follows, cover for two, grounded Cobra Twist, Grayson out, folding press, trading pins at length but nobody wins it.

Capture backbreaker leaves Waller screaming agony, cover for two! Reverse chinlock, Waller posts to his feet, Strong reverses to a vertical suplex for two! Arm-trap crossface... GRAYSON GETS THE ROPES! Chops, putting Waller up top, Roddy is knocked down and Grayson nails him with a missile dropkick! Laying kicks in, rolling elbow, but he can’t keep the champ down!

Strong to the floor, Waller with a tope con giro, roll back in, Ace Crusher... NOT ENOUGH! Diamond Mine cheering their guy on, Roddy nails him...

Roderick Strong wins by pinfall with a jumping knee strike to retain the NXT Cruiserweight Championship.

Post-match, the Diamond Mine celebrate in the ring.

LA Knight is interviewed backstage.

He asks if he looks like a punk and says he’s the uncrowned NXT Champion and he’s not gonna let Odyssey Jones roll in here and spew a bunch of BS about him, and he gives Jones one week to learn a very important lesson—

Odyssey is right behind him and promises that he’s never seen anyone like him.

Andre Chase comes rushing past complaining about his loss, and that gives Knight a chance to jump Jones and beat him down!

Commentary promises us the debut of Lashing Out with Lash Legend, after the break.

Back from commercial, we get a hype reel for Dante Chen.

Trey Baxter and Cora Jade are interviewed backstage.

Jade says she’s the youngest person on the show and she’s excited for her debut next week. Baxter says she’s gonna do great as long as she doesn’t do anything he did last week, and they kiss.

We cut to a closed set somewhere for Lashing Out with Lash Legend.

Legend welcomes us to her show and she talks up the WWE Draft. She knows a little something about drafts because she got the rebound record in a single game and that earned her a WNBA draft spot. She asks about Jade and Baxter kissing in the locker room and says if Cora wants a real man she should get someone who looks like Ikemen Jiro.

She awards the Lash Out of the week to Andre Chase and calls him a Pee Wee Herman lookalike and bets he won’t come do that to her.

Ridge Holland makes his entrance but Kyle O’Reilly jumps him! Pete Dunne joins the brawl and we go to break!

Kyle O’Reilly vs. Ridge Holland

Match joined in progress, Holland grinding O’Reilly down with a bear hug but Kyle breaks his arm loose and reverses. Shot off, crossbody caught into a ribbreaker and a big exploder suplex... NOPE! Back to the bear hug, ramming KOR into the corner before reapplying it, back and forth, Kyle with a guillotine choke but Ridge slips out.

Nobody home when he drops the knee, Kyle with cravate knees, a legsweep, charging forearm, shoulder armbreaker and a dragon screw! Running knee gets two, immediate shift into a cross armbar but Holland has the hands clasped! Adding a leg into it, he breaks Holland’s grip but the big man is able to post up on his feet!

Shift to a triangle, deadlift buckle bomb counters it! Boot up on the charge, Ridge with a tilt-a-whirl slam... SO CLOSE! Crawling under his legs, Holland catches him, Thunder Fire Powerbomb... NOT ENOUGH! O’Reilly powers up, Ax and Smash, headed up top, Pete Dunne runs interference but it just gives KOR the chance...

Kyle O’Reilly wins by pinfall with a folding press.

Post-match, the heels beat Kyle down but Von Wagner makes the save and the babyfaces clean house!

Tony D’Angelo gets another promo about gabbagool capiche or whatever, and we’re informed he’ll be here next week.

Raquel Gonzalez makes her entrance to send us to break.

Back from commercial, commentary hypes up next week’s show for us.

Franky Monet vs. Raquel Gonzalez (c) (NXT Women’s Championship)

Collar and elbow, Gonzalez gets her right in the ropes, clean break. Back to the lockup, wristlock, reversed, hammerlock, Franky with a solebutt and a headlock takeover. Trading strikes, sidestep the charge, Monet with slaps in the corner, whip reversed, scoop and a Fallaway Slam! Robert Stone and Jessi Kamea pull Franky out of the ring for the save!

Raquel stalks around to her and throws her back inside, spinning World’s Strongest Slam... NOPE! Monet slips out of the ring for a breather, slam on the floor and she brings the champ back inside for running knees. Deathlock surfboard... CURB STOMP! Bodyscissors applied to grind Gonzalez down, kick to the back, palm strikes, knee to the back for a nearfall!

Into the ropes, Raquel kicking away, back elbow, front kick, slingshot elbow drop for two! Looking for the powerbomb, the champ’s back gives out and Monet hits a double stomp for two! Head kicks, off the ropes...

Raquel Gonzalez wins by pinfall with the one-arm powerbomb to retain the NXT Women’s Championship.

Post-match, Toxic Attraction come out and attack Franky Monet and company, leaving them lying on the ramp! They surround Raquel in the ring, she slugs Dolin with the belt but Rose and Jayne attack! The heels overwhelm her, Gigi returns with a chop block and the beatdown rolls on!

Mandy picks the title belt up and holds it high over Gonzalez’ fallen body!

That’s the show, folks.
