With only six matches booked for Extreme Rules going into the show at the Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio, WWE added to it by having The New Day brawl with Bobby Lashley, AJ Styles, and Omos backstage leading to a six-man tag on the main pay-per-view portion of the broadcast. The match saw Big E pin Lashley to score the win for his team.
That, in turn, led to a promo from an enraged Lashley challenging Big E to a WWE championship match on this week’s episode of Monday Night Raw. E, who won the title by beating Lashley just a couple weeks ago, quickly accepted.
It was made official, with a special note:

They’re going to waste no time getting right to it.
This will be a special episode of Raw, in the sense that it’s the final episode before the latest draft takes place. The first picks will be made on Friday Night SmackDown this week. This, then, could be the last chance these two get to wrestle for that title.
