WWE Extreme Rules 2021 results: Roman Reigns exorcises The Demon

Hey, you know that pay-per-view (PPV) match Roman Reigns was obviously going to win?

Yeah, he won it.

Finn Balor, who broke out his “Demon” alter ego for his Extreme Rules match against Reigns at the PPV of the same name tonight (Sun., Sept. 26, 2021) at the Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio, never really had a chance. They tried their best to convince you he did, and the match was still damn good, but like we knew he would, Balor fell to the Universal champion.

Just one of many to meet that fate.

An unexpectedly great part of the match was the fact that the fans in attendance had been chanting “we want tables” at various points throughout the evening. The only “Extreme Rules” match on the card, however, was the main event. So Balor tried to give it to them, repeatedly attempting to bring a table out from under the ring. Reigns, playing the heel so well, kept taking it away.

Then, he gave it to them like this:

Too good.

It got pretty goofy toward the finish. After an incredible sequence saw The Usos interfere and everyone get put through tables and blown apart all around the ring, the lights went dark briefly and The Demon theme started playing. Balor, laid out, responded to the beat as though it was reviving him.

Then, he hopped up and appeared to be poised to win the match with some newfound power, all while his theme continued playing.

He went up to the top rope to deliver the Coup de Grace but then the top rope broke, he fell off, and Reigns hit the spear to score the three count.
