WWE SMACKDOWN RESULTS AND LIVE BLOG FOR SEPT. 24

Well accidents happen about everyday and that day was special followed by a heat wave. Rush hour just began, and I ran for my life. I can’t afford to miss the bus or I’ll go and miss all the fuss, ‘cause this time it’s a must for me to liveblog this here pro wrestling show for you, folks.

The show opens with Becky Lynch making her entrance.

We get a video package recapping Bianca Belair’s homecoming last week.

Becky gets on the mic and says Belair seems to be doing nice for herself but she too has been doing well for herself, less than a year after having a child she won the title and all, but no one threw her a party. But it’s okay, she’s the better man. When Bianca refused to let go of her handshake, she had no choice but to embarrass her in front of her mom and friends and everyone.

Enter Bianca Belair.

She tells Lynch to keep her parents’ names out of her mouth, but real talk she did beat her at SummerSlam and embarrass her in her home town, but if she thinks that’s gonna happen on Sunday, girl, uh-uh. At SummerSlam she didn’t even know she was going to wrestle Becky, to which Lynch says she knew she was gonna have a match and she can’t call herself the EST if she’s not always ready.

Bianca asks how many ways she has to show her before she gets it and she compares her accolades to Becky’s and demands some respect on her name before claiming that she’s going to win at Extreme Rules. She offers a handshake and Lynch fakes-out accepting before hauling off and slapping the taste out of her mouth! Belair rushes her and beats her down in the corner briefly before she slips away!

Blocking the Manhandle, Bianca gets her up... KOD!

Rick Boogs is backstage with Shinsuke Nakamura and Toni Storm to send us to break.

Back from commercial, Rick Boogs plays Shinsuke Nakamura in.

Apollo Crews gets an inset promo about how he’s going to win tonight.

Apollo Crews vs. Shinsuke Nakamura (c) (WWE Intercontinental Championship)

Crews in control early, shoulder block, leapfrog, Nakamura with a rolling kick! Good Vibrations, setting him up for the corner knee but Apollo slips out and rakes the eyes! Off the ropes, lariat, military press drop over the ropes and to the floor and we go to break!

Back from commercial, Nakamura lands a kick, fired up, front kick, leg kick, chest kicks into a leg-feed enzuigiri! Charging in, boot up, block it, kick to the back of the neck and he hits the sliding German suplex! Cover for two, up to the second, he dives and Crews cuts him off with a dropkick! Hammering the champion with punches, Shinsuke gets behind him, back elbow cuts him off.

Knee lift, axe kick, diving Kinshasa... NOPE! Apollo with a fallaway slam... STILL NO! Tenryu powerbomb, he tries to roll it but Nakamura slips out and hits an enzuigiri! Fired up in the corner, shaking, calling for it but Commander Azeez pulls his man to the apron! Shinsuke hits the big man with a dropkick, Rick Boogz suplexes him but Crews is ready for Nakamura!

Olympic Slam countered, Shinsuke folds him up...

Shinsuke Nakamura wins by pinfall with a side folding press to retain the WWE Intercontinental Championship.

We get a recap of the Bloodline vs. New Day match and three-way main event from Raw.

Montez Ford is interviewed backstage.

He says he’s got a lot of feelings about Sunday, and he and Angelo Dawkins are going to regain their tag titles. Dawkins is busy at a wedding but he’s gonna be back for Extreme Rules. He tells Roman Reigns that he treats his cousins like his “Bloodline bitches” and reminds us that he wants the smoke.

We see Roman Reigns consternated backstage after watching that interview, and asks Paul Heyman what he said.

Heyman recaps the interview, and Roman demands a match against Montez tonight. Paul tries to talk sense to him but a single look from the Tribal Chief and he changes his tune. Reigns asks why he’s still here and Heyman runs off to do his bidding as we go to break.

Back from commercial, we get a hype reel for Philadelphia, which to be fair is a pretty swell city. Or I like it here, at least.

Five-time NWA World Heavyweight Champion Adam Pearce and Sonya Deville are walking backstage when Paul Heyman intercepts them to ask for Roman’s match against Montez Ford tonight. Pearce says they can do that and Paul tells him after the match they can talk about the draft.

We get a recap of the Edge vs. Seth Rollins feud.

Seth cuts a promo backstage.

He says he’s gotten no response to his ultimatum from seven days ago, but that’s okay because the sound of Edge’s silence is deafening and proof that he’s hurt and hurt bad. But it’s not good enough because he wants an answer and he doesn’t want to wait anymore, so here’s how it’s gonna be— either Edge shows up to SmackDown next week and he’s gonna tell the world the truth, that he’s not Edge Lite, he’s superior in every way and the man responsible for ending his career, or he’ll find him where he sleeps and beat those words out of him in front of his wife and children.

Liv Morgan makes her entrance to send us to break.

Liv Morgan vs. Zelina Vega

Carmella makes her entrance but Morgan ignores her and goes to work on Vega with dropkicks. Whip to the corner, boot up, Matrix evasion into a schoolboy pin for two! Corner knees from Zelina, Dragon sleeper follows, Liv stands up and backs her into the corner to break! Vega striking away, Morgan swings her around, wristlock surfboard stomp into the turnbuckles!

Mella jawing at her, Liv gets distracted and Zelina blasts her with a boot! Yoshi Tonic...

Zelina Vega wins by pinfall with a Yoshi Tonic.

We get a Happy Corbin vignette ahead of the inaugural edition of Happy Talk.

Corbin makes his entrance to send us to break.

Back from commercial, Happy Corbin welcomes us to Happy Talk.

He rambles about how much his suit cost but I don’t get all of it because I am once again gently distracted by my lovely girlfriend Erana and several other members of our polycule. Anyway, eventually he introduces his guest, Kevin Owens.

KO makes his entrance but a hooded man blindsides him and lays him out in the aisle! It’s Riddick Moss! They beat Owens down and lay him out on the steel steps, laughing.

Backstage, Montez Ford is interviewed.

He says he regrets nothing and he’s ready to go one-on-one with Roman Reigns and get the smoke.

Newly-minted WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Nikki ASH & Rhea Ripley make their entrance to send us to break.

Back from commercial, commentary informs us that Edge has accepted Rollins’ challenge to appear on SmackDown next week.

Natalya vs. Nikki ASH

Natalya right in with a side headlock takevoer, front kick, clubbing blows, whip to the corner, up and over, ASH off the ropes, drop down, whip across, leapfrog, basement dropkick into a dropkick into a cover as Nikki gets rolling! Nattie in the ropes, referee Dan Engler warns ASH off and Neidhart gets a mat slam and a handful of hair!

Into the corner, smashing Nikki’s face turnbuckle to turnbuckle, putting boots to her until Engler warns her off in turn. ASH with a back elbow, Nattie cuts her off, snap suplex, cover, only two. Nikki with desperate punches, Neidhart takes her into the corner for forearms. Elbow up, tornado DDT attempt off the second but Tamina runs interference. Rhea cuts her off, trading pins...

Nikki ASH wins by pinfall with an inside cradle.

Post-match, Shotzi Blackheart and Tegan Nox make their entrance with the tank and drive it up to the ring. They fire the cannon at the tag champs!

Backstage, the Mysterios are hanging out.

Dominik complains about his dad nitpicking him and claims he would have beaten Sami Zayn the past two weeks if he hadn’t been at ringside. Rey tells him he’s gonna give him some space because he’s not thinking straight.

Sami rolls up and says he couldn’t help overhearing and he knows his confidence is a little shaky but there’s nothing to be ashamed of. Zayn’s been in the ring with the best, and Dom has the tools to be as good as anybody ever. He’s growing so fast, he’s doing great, and if Sami could offer one piece of advice, it’s that his dad is a good man and means well, but he should trust his instincts more than his dad.

Naomi makes her entrance to send us to break.

Back from commercial, Naomi gets on the mic.

She says she’s been trying to compete and she’s been fined, disrespected, insulted, and ignored, and she wants a match. Not tomorrow, not next week, right here, right now and somebody needs to get out here and fight her.

Enter Sonya Deville.

Naomi tells her she wants to fight her, and Deville turns it down. Naomi demands she make the match, Sonya has her mic cut, and sends security down to drag her out of the ring. Naomi leaves of her own volition and Deville tells her to go TikTok dance her way into obscurity backstage.

The Bloodline are walking backstage and the Usos get distracted by Alpha Academy, holding their titles up to them.

Montez Ford makes his entrance to send us to break.

Back from commercial we get a recap of our opening segment.

Becky Lynch cuts a promo backstage and says this time she’s going to make Bianca Belair suffer. She’s not just going to beat her, she’s going to break her.

Montez Ford vs. Roman Reigns

Collar and elbow, Ford with a side headlock, Reigns reverses, shot off, drop down, leapfrog, leapfrog, dropkick, dropkick and we go to break!

Back from commercial, Reigns is in control, punching away on Montez, choking him in the ropes, taking him into the turnbuckles, mounted punches in the corner and then a lariat! Choking him in the ropes, corner lariats, big boot, Ford fires back chops! Backflip, enzuigiri, and a lariat sends Roman to the floor! Montez follows out after him and throws him into the barricade a few times!

Back inside to break the count, Montez gets up on the announce table but it breaks under him, so he improvises with a running knee off the steps! Off the ropes, pop-up drop, Ford rolls to the floor and we go to break.

Back from commercial, Reigns is still in control and Ford rolls to the ropes, where Roman chokes him. Montez comes back with a springboard crossbody, kick combo, duck the enzuigiri, handspring away, dropkick puts Roman into the ropes! Standing shiranui, cover for two, Reigns with a big Rock Bottom for a nearfall!

Calling for it, jawing at Ford, he counters the Superman Punch into a DDT... NOT ENOUGH! Drawing him up, big slicing right cuts Montez off, duck a lariat, he puts Roman into the post hard! Charging in, slingshot over, Penalty Kick off the apron! Putting Reigns into the steel steps, back up top, frog splash... THE KNEES ARE UP AND ROMAN HAS THE GUILLOTINE CHOKE LOCKED IN!

Roman Reigns wins by submission with the guillotine choke.

Post-match, Paul Heyman gets in the ring and counsels Reigns to show Montez Ford, Finn Balor, and Brock Lesnar what happens when Roman takes it to the extreme.

The Usos make their entrance and hand Reigns a chair, that he wails on Ford with repeatedly! Taking him to the floor... ROCK BOTTOM THROUGH THE TABLE!

The lights go out...

THE DEMON IS ON THE RINGPOST! DIVING CROSSBODY TAKES THE BLOODLINE OUT! HE GETS A KENDO STICK AND WALLOPS ROMAN WITH IT! BACK INSIDE, SLING BLADE INTO CHAIR SHOTS AS THE DEMON GOES WILD! Off the ropes... TOPE CON GIRO TAKES REIGNS OUT!

That’s the show, folks.
