WWE NXT RESULTS AND LIVE BLOG FOR SEPT. 21
Coquet coquette you know I won’t forget, how you kissed me strange to prove you were mythical. Oh my coquette you used my voice as your earthly vehicle, but now I have to liveblog this here pro wrestling show for you, folks.
The show opens with a recap of last week’s NXT 2.0 premiere and the crowning of Tommaso Ciampa as your new NXT Champion.
Thence to the intro video.
Tommaso Ciampa makes his entrance and gets in a ring with a bunch of the new talent that represent NXT 2.0— Brooks Jensen, Josh Briggs, Trick Williams, Carmelo Hayes, Odyssey Jones, “Chainsaw” Joe Gacy, and Bron Breakker.
He gets on the mic and cuts a promo about how it was worth every damn second to get back to the title before addressing a few of the men behind him and saying he is, was, and always will be Mr. NXT. They can put on a fresh coat of paint, but here’s what hasn’t changed: the passion.
He says he’s so damn happy to be holding this title and representing this brand, because with him holding the title, NXT 2.0 is the A-show.
Enter Cameron Grimes.
He makes his case for a title shot but Gacy interrupts. He doesn’t get to say much before—
Enter LA Knight. He calls the crowd incels and—
Enter Pete Dunne and Ridge Holland.
Dunne gets on the mic and gives all the new faces a piece of advice— make a name for yourself. But the problem is he looks around and only sees a bunch of geezers who are scared to throw the first punch. Ciampa throws the first punch and a wild brawl breaks out!
We go backstage where a bunch of women are fighting and then cut back to Ciampa and Breakker dumping Dunne and Holland and standing tall. Bron gets on the mic and tells Pete and Ridge to grow a set of balls and face him and Ciampa in a tag match tonight, and we go to break.
KUSHIDA (c) vs. Roderick Strong (NXT Cruiserweight Championship)
Mat grappling to start, intense back-and-forth and into a stalemate! Hip toss, Strong fighting from guard, popping up, cravate, side headlock, shot off, shoulder block, drop down, hip toss into an armbar! KUSHIDA in control and we go to break.
Back from commercial, things are escalating, KUSHIDA with big palm strikes, Manhattan Drop, hip toss into a dropkick, the big windup punch but Strong sidesteps a penalty kick and cracks a chop across the champ’s chest! Up in the corner, looking for the Hoverboard Lock but he settles for the avalanche Divorce Court!
Penalty Kick to the arm, boot up on the charge, Roddy with a back suplex backbreaker and he follows it up with an Olympic Slam... NOPE! More kicks to the elbow, Strong fires back with chops, off the ropes with a wicked forearm, KUSHIDA rolls through a backbreaker and gets the Hoverboard Lock in the middle of the ring!
Rolling him through, Roddy desperate to block, to his feet, bodyscissors applied, nowhere to go and Malcolm Bivens puts Strong’s foot on the ropes! Running interference while the rest of the Diamond Mine attack KUSHIDA and throw him back in...
Roderick Strong wins by pinfall with End of Heartache to become your new NXT Cruiserweight Champion.
The Diamond Mine celebrate their win until they’re interrupted by Grayson Waller making his entrance.
He tells them to chill and cheers for the new champ, saying after what happened to his boy Drake Maverick last week, he’s realizing that NXT 2.0 is a straight-up jungle, but if anyone was built to survive in the jungle, it’s him. So instead of sitting in the back waiting for an opportunity he’s out here to take one and challenge Strong to a match for the title, next week.
Bivens gets on the mic and asks how dare he interrupt the champion’s celebration and consults with Roddy about the match. Next week, Diamond Mine will show Waller why they run NXT!
We get another Tony D’Angelo promo where he talks about his family’s mob ties.
Kay Lee Ray makes her entrance and we go to break.
Back from commercial, we get a video package where Josh Briggs and Brooks Jensen explain the origin of their tag team.
They met the night Briggs washed out of the NXT Breakout Tournament and immediately got into a bar brawl and earned each other’s respect, and the tag division is in trouble.
Amari Miller gets an inset promo where she says she’s here to showcase her skills.
Amari Miller vs. Kay Lee Ray
Miller sidesteps a charge, right hands, back elbow, short-arm neckbreaker for two! Ray comes back in a big way and it’s over in short order...
Kay Lee Ray wins by pinfall with her Gory Bomb.
Bron Breakker is interviewed backstage and he talks about how excited he is to team with Ciampa tonight. Tom joins the interview and they seem to be on the same page, mostly.
We go to break on the promise of Dante Chen, after the break.
We get footage from earlier today of Xyon Quinn escorting some ladies to the back door and then beating a guy who tried to slip through in front of them up for being rude.
Dante Chen vs. Trey Baxter
Collar and elbow, into the corner, a little back and forth but this is a showcase for Chen...
Dante Chen wins by pinfall with a front facelock package jawbreaker.
We get a vignette for Andre Chase where he’s teaching a class at “Chase University” about how Odyssey Jones sucks.
We get a health update from Triple H where he says he’s recovering and he’ll see us soon.
A Cameron Grimes vignette follows to send us to break.
Back from commercial, Joe Gacy is in the ring.
He promises a safe space from the smallest microaggression to the most heinous of grudges and says he comes to us with a mindset of conflict resolution, where he doesn’t have to use his male privilege to get what he wants. He believes we can achieve unity and tolerance and aims to be the man to show us peace in this safe space, and that starts tonight.
Cameron Grimes vs. Joe Gacy
Grimes in control early, working an armbar, Gacy fires up, gets the handspring lariat... SO CLOSE! Off the ropes...
Cameron Grimes wins by pinfall with Cave-In.
Post-match, Gacy hugs Grimes before leaving the ring.
We get a recap of the In-Dex wedding.
Legado del Fantasma make their entrance, Elektra Lopez will be in action after the break.
Back from commercial, we get a video package for Von Wagner where he talks about being an unconventional man with unconventional methods.
Anna Scheer vs. Elektra Lopez
Lopez right in with right hands, off the ropes with shoves, a handful of hair and shoving Scheer away! Scoop and a slam, rolling suplexes...
Elektra Lopez wins by pinfall with a powerbomb.
Post-match, Santos Escobar gets on the mic and puts Elektra over, saying she completes Legado del Fantasma and passes the mic to her. She says this is just a little taste of what she’s going to unleash on B-FAB and NXT 2.0. B-FAB can keep talking but we know that’s all it is, and if she doesn’t like it, she can get her skinny ass out here.
B-FAB does indeed get her skinny ass out there, blindsiding Elektra while the rest of Hit Row enter through the aisle!
The women brawl until their teammates pull them apart, B-FAB rushes back in after her.
Trey Baxter is sad in the locker room after losing to Dante Chen and gets a pep talk and a kiss from Cora Jade.
Odyssey Jones makes his entrance to send us to break.
Franky Monet and her entourage are walking backstage when they run into Raquel Gonzalez.
Raquel says their title match will be next week and Franky tells her to enjoy her last week as champion. Lash Legend rolls up to get in Franky’s face and tell her that her title match is cool but it won’t be as cool as the debut of her talk show next week.
Odyssey Jones vs. Two Dudes (??? & ???) (Handicap Match)
Odyssey in control early, Andre Chase comes down the aisle for a distraction but the big man recovers and heads up top...
Odyssey Jones wins by pinfall with a 747 Splash on both guys.
Post-match, Chase attacks Jones with a chair but Odyssey catches it and Andre runs away!
Grayson Waller is backstage chatting with some pals when Carmelo Hayes and Trick Williams roll up.
Carmelo tells him that even if he wins the Cruiserweight Championship, he might just cash in and end his reign.
Jacy Jayne, Gigi Dolin, and Mandy Rose walk past and the boys admire how attractive they are.
Those three women make their entrance, billed as Toxic Attraction, to send us to break.
Back from commercial, Ikemen Jiro takes us on a tour of his very colorful closet and talks about how you normally think about strong style when it comes to Japanese wrestlers, but with him, it’s “style strong” because of his handsome jackets.
We go to the ring where Toxic Attraction have microphones.
Mandy Rose starts, saying she came here to be our gift, our golden goddess, but asks where we were when her face was battered and beaten. Her new pals don’t give a damn what we think, and they showed her that there’s a beast behind her beauty and they’re the future of the women’s division.
Gigi Dolin says the pain of her past has always fueled her aggression and she knew that if she could pull Mandy’s out they’d be unstoppable, and Rose’s experience brought them purpose that makes them unbeatable and will lead them to the top. Jacy Jayne says Toxic Attraction aren’t just pretty faces in the crowd, and if you thought for one second they’d sit in the back and wait like the rest of these broads in the division, you’ve got another thing coming.
What Toxic Attraction wants is the NXT Women’s Tag Team Championship.
Tag champs Io Shirai and Zoey Starks are interviewed backstage and Shirai accepts the challenge.
Indi Hartwell’s best friend Persia Pirotta rolls up to wish them luck in that match because when Indi’s off her honeymoon, they’re coming for the titles.
And so we go to break.
Bron Breakker & Tommaso Ciampa vs. Pete Dunne & Ridge Holland
Ciampa and Dunne to start, running the ropes, high speed, backslide, roll through, Fairytale Ending blocked, ducking and dodging, stalemate! Tags made to the bigger men, Breakker in control with a sweet roll-through waistlock takedown and then another! Leapfrog over Dunne, high-angle spinebuster connects! Ridge with a forearm, whip reversed, corner lariat, quick tag!
Assisted corner lariat into a Manhattan Drop, running bulldog from the champ! Tom chopping him, blind tag from Dunne, spinebuster into a dropkick! Pete drops a knee across Ciampa’s arm, working the wrist and fingers, folding the arm to the mat and dropping the knee again! Forearms into a fall-back stepover armbreaker and then a kneeling armbar!
The match breaks down, Tom throws Dunne over the announce table but Holland destroys him with a lariat to send us to break.
Back from commercial, Dunne with wristlock stomps, upkicks from Ciampa send him into the corner for the tag. Holland in with crossface strikes, Tom gets a suplex off and the path is clear! Tags made, Breakker in hot, flying shoulder block knocks Ridge back, big revolution belly-to-belly suplexes for both men! THE STRAPS ARE DOWN!
Steiner Recliner locked on but Holland breaks it up, assisted Alabama Slam... CIAMPA WITH THE SAVE! Tom hits Pete with a pump knee, corner lariat, trading charging forearms, and Ridge destroys him with an overhead belly-to-belly! Bron hits one of his own on Peter and the big boys square up! Off the ropes, they bounce off each other and end up down and out!
Ciampa and Dunne back at it, Tommaso takes the truncheon from him, Breakker with a military press but Pete cuts him off! Kyle O’Reilly runs down when Holland tries to get the truncheon and throws him back inside! Willow’s Bell takes Dunne out, Bron with a goozle, military press...
Bron Breakker & Tommaso Ciampa win by pinfall with a military press dropped into a powerslam from Breakker on Ridge Holland.
Post-match, Bron grabs the NXT title belt and hands it to Ciampa, hesitating briefly to make it clear that he’s gunning for the title.
They stand tall on the turnbuckles.
That’s the show, folks.
