The WWE Champion appears on SmackDown

I suppose it shouldn’t come as any surprise that Big E would appear on an episode of Friday Night SmackDown, as he did on this week’s show in Knoxville. He does wrestle for the blue brand, after all.

Or at least he did.

Really, this is momentous because of the uncertainty surrounding his status. I say uncertainty because Big E isn’t just Big E anymore, he is WWE Champion Big E. That feels so very good to say, and so I am saying it as often as I can because, again, Big E is WWE champion.

Anyway, he interrupted Universal Champion Roman Reigns at the start of SmackDown this week:

He was interrupted by Finn Balor before he could make anything of it, and during a commercial break a tag team match was booked pitting E & Balor against The Usos.

The fact that Big E was deliberately made to get in Reigns’ face may lead one to believe perhaps WWE is doing some setting up for another big show coming up in a couple months, Survivor Series, but we’ll have to wait and see on all that.

In the meantime, Balor & E defeated the SmackDown tag team champions, with E pinning Jimmy after a Big Ending while Balor simultaneously hit the Coup de Grace on Jey.
