Pete Dunne reportedly agrees to new contract with WWE

Pete Dunne posted this not long ago, leading to folks speculating perhaps he would be following Adam Cole out the door:

But while Cole is happy as can be in AEW, Dunne will not be joining him there for some time.

That’s because Fightful Select is reporting the NXT star has agreed to a new three year contract with WWE. Apparently Triple H himself made the offer before his recent health issues led to surgery and time away.

This news comes on the heels of word getting out that his previous deal was up and all the uncertainty of what that could mean for the future. Despite that, he has been booked strong on television, which includes his being put in a Fatal 4-Way match on this week’s episode of NXT TV that was originally a title eliminator but is now an NXT championship match.

It also comes about just as NXT is getting a brand new look and feel, known as “NXT 2.0.” We’ll see where exactly Dunne slots in as time goes on.
