The Demon returns on SmackDown

Last week’s episode of Friday Night SmackDown ended with a brief tease of The Demon returning after Finn Balor was defeated by Roman Reigns in a Universal championship match.

This week’s episode of Friday Night SmackDown ended with The Demon actually making his return.

Reigns accepted Brock Lesnar’s challenge for a title match sometime in the future, saying he’s going to smash him just like he’ll be smashing Balor at Extreme Rules. But it won’t be Balor he’s wrestling, you see. It will be The Demon, who we haven’t seen in a number of years.

Balor told Digital Spy a couple years back that he was using it as a crutch and WWE went away from it. The idea, of course, is that it’s to be used for special occasions. Headlining a pay-per-view against Reigns in a title match sure seems special enough.
