With reports his WWE future is undecided, Adam Cole’s name has been in the news a lot lately. But he wasn’t on NXT last night (Aug. 3).
That was explained as being due to ”spinal and neck compression” caused by Kyle O’Reilly hitting him with a brainbuster on the steel ring steps after Cole defeated Bronson Reed the week before. But despite not being medically cleared, the Panama City Playboy will appear next Tuesday for a face-to-face with O’Reilly, mediated by General Manager William Regal.
NXT will most likely use the segment to announce a trilogy match between the two former Undisputed ERA teammates at TakeOver 36 on Sun., Aug. 22. Cole’s WWE contract is said to be up after that SummerSlam weekend event.
Also announced for Aug. 10, which will be NXT’s return to airing live on USA after two weeks of pre-taped shows airing on SyFy:
- Women’s champion Raquel González will “break her silence”. González’s former partner Dakota Kai explained why she betrayed the champ on this week’s show.
- Ilja Dragunov will appear in the build-up to his highly anticipated rematch with NXT UK titleholder WALTER at TakeOver 36.
- Ember Moon vs. Sarray
- The Breakout Tournament continues. After this week, the semi-finals are set: Odyssey Jones vs. Trey Baxter, and Duke Hudson vs. Carmelo Hayes
