After a pandemic-related hiatus, Roman Reigns returned to WWE at SummerSlam 2020. That return led to the unveiling of his Head of the Table heel character, part of which was winning the Universal title from Bray Wyatt at Payback.
In a bit of unexpected scheduling, Payback happened on Aug. 30 - just one week after last year’s Biggest Party of the Summer. Which means today marks one year of Reigns as the Universal champ, and that just acknowledging your Tribal Chief isn’t enough this fine Monday afternoon...
365 days as Your Universal Heavyweight Champion… #CelebrateMe
— Roman Reigns (@WWERomanReigns) August 30, 2021
In case you want to make party favors for everyone Roman’s successfully defended his belt against in the past year, here’s that list:
- John Cena
- Edge
- Rey Mysterio
- Cesaro
- Daniel Bryan
- Kevin Owens
- Jey Uso
- Braun Strowman
Probably bad form to bring this up on such a jubilant occasion, but we have to wonder how long Reigns’ reign will last - and who will finally dethrone The Tribal Chief.
Weigh in on that below, if you’re not too busy Celebrating Him.
