Becky Lynch’s return brings the ratings for SmackDown

New, 26 comments

We’re to a point where writing about television viewership for WWE programming is hardly worth the time. The numbers fluctuate in a way that is nearly statistically irrelevant, and changing habits in the media industry as far as consumption are concerned make it much less important than it used to be.

Having said that, there are times when it’s noteworthy enough to pass along word of any significant change in the pattern and that brings us to today.

According to SpoilerTV.com, this week’s episode of Friday Night SmackDown saw a huge jump in viewership for the preliminary numbers with 2.93 million viewers tuning in for Becky Lynch’s return, the tease of Brock Lesnar (which wasn’t followed through on), and all the other fallout from SummerSlam. That’s up from last week’s 2.10 million viewers, and the highest number we’ve seen from the blue brand on FOX in 2021.

Lynch reacted:

Sounds about right.
