NXT Spoilers for Aug. 24: Injury return, wedding date

With the Capitol Wrestling Center set for a makeover as past of NXT’s rebranding, the black-and-gold brand is taping three episodes this week so work can begin on the venue.

Last night (Aug. 23), the taped two episodes of 205 Live and tonight’s NXT. Here’s what we’ll see on the TakeOver 36 fallout show:

NXT SPOILERS for Aug. 24

- Cameron Grimes and Ted DiBiase arrive in a limo. They celebrate Grimes winning the Million Dollar title back from LA Knight, and talk about their partnership. Segment closes with both screaming “To the Moon” and shooting “Grimes Bucks” into the crowd.

- Ridge Holland def. Timothy Thatcher. A brawl breaks out when Tommaso Ciampa goes to check on his partner after the match, with first Pete Dunne and then Oney Lorcan & a returning Danny Burch joining Holland to beat down the babyface.

- In a backstage segment, Indi Hartwell & Dexter Lumis show off their new engagement merch, and announce their wedding will take place on the Sept. 14. That show will be live, and should be the debut of the new-look CWC.

- Kacy Catanzaro & Kayden Carter def. Gigi Dolin & Jacy Jayne

- Raquel González got a backstage promo to talk about her Women’s championship and the arrival of Kay Lee Ray at TakeOver. Franky Monet & The Robert Stone Brand showed up to talk about taking Raquel’s title.

- Kay Lee Ray def. Valentina Feroz

- Samoa Joe with an in-ring promo about winning his third NXT championship on Sunday night. As he wondered about his first challenger, Pete Dunne, Kyle O’Reilly & LA Knight came out. Ridge Holland attacks O’Reilly, prompting a brawl. Tommaso Ciampa showed up to get payback on the Brits, and the segment ended with Joe & Ciampa in the ring staring down at Dunne & Holland.

- Carmelo Hayes def. Odyssey Jones, winning the NXT Breakout tournament. In a post-match interview, Hayes told General Manager William Regal its too soon to decide which title he wants to challenge for.

- Dunne and company promo backstage about having put Thatcher on the shelf, and declaring Ciampa is next.

- Xyon Quinn (Daniel Vidot) def. Boa. Boa was pinned after he was distracted by Mei Ying.

- Backstage, Johnny Gargano demands Regal call off the wedding. LA Knight shows up and the scene devolves into a screaming match.

- Malcolm Bivens cuts a promo calling Roderick Strong the uncrowned Cruiserweight champion. Strong will be doing the Open Challenge gimmick on next week’s show.

- Ridge Holland vs. Tommaso Ciampa is also booked for Aug. 31.

- Legado Del Fantasma def. Hit Row, with Santos Escobar pinning Isaiah “Swerve” Scott. The match featured B-Fab attacking Escobar while the referee was distracted, and a mystery woman appearing to take out Fab with a weapon.
