There were two things of note during Damian Priest’s United States championship victory over Sheamus at tonight’s (Sat., Aug. 21, 2021) WWE SummerSlam pay-per-view (PPV) at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada:
- Priest took a really awful looking bump to the outside of the ring, where he had no cushion for his back and appeared to be in a great deal of pain immediately after. Despite this, he continued the match and looked better as it went on. And,
- They were given a surprising amount of time to put together an equally surprising match that featured some fun back-and-forth action. They did a call back to Priest ripping Sheamus’ face mask off and hitting him hard in the face. Sure enough, that’s what happened here as well.
This marks the end of Sheamus’ third run with the U.S. title, which he won back at WrestleMania 37.
