Dominik has some of Uncle Eddie in him after all

SmackDown Tag Team championship match

The Usos took the belts from The Mysterios at Money in the Bank. But Jimmy & Jey may not be the biggest challenge Rey & Dominik face in trying to reclaim them on Sat., Aug. 21 in Las Vegas.

The Road to SummerSlam

The feud now is between The Usos and The Mysterios, but Rey & his son have been dealing with The Bloodline going back to before Hell in a Cell when the legendary luchador challenged Roman Reigns for the Universal title.

In the build to that, Jimmy & Jey were unable to take the titles from Dom & his dad. But it all led into the Kickoff match of last month’s PPV, where The Usos made their cousin proud - and made the family whole.

The Mysterios have worked themselves back into position for a rematch via Reigns’ current feud with John Cena. A trios win with the 16 time WWE World champ led to a win over former Tag champs The Dirty Dawgs, and set the stage for a SummerSlam do-over.

Singles matches between the men in the two teams have revealed a new problem for the Mysterios, though. Dominik has been letting his emotions get the better of him, and started taking shortcuts to help his family pick up wins over The Usos.

Dad wasn’t crazy about it, but took it as a teachable moment. He tried it again on the go home show, but this time the referee spotted it. It ended up costing Rey the match.

The Usos are hard to beat under the best conditions. Can The Mysterios do it while his father disapproves of Dom’s desire to lie, cheat & steal like his Uncle Eddie Guerrero?

What to watch for

Is this the start of an inner-family feud for The Mysterios? Fans have been anticipating Dominik turning on Rey going back to his first adult appearances on WWE television. With the dream Tag title run crossed off the checklist, it could be time.

WWE may not want to take the belts off The Usos just yet, either. Their push continuing in spite of Jimmy’s latest alcohol-related arrest was rumored to be because they’re integral to big plans for Roman. They could be champs until closer to when The Rock gets some free time in his schedule...

We’ll see what happens tonight at SummerSlam.
