Renewed concern over Sasha Banks vs. Bianca Belair match at SummerSlam

WWE Network

We’re just over 24 hours away from WWE hitting Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada for its SummerSlam pay-per-view (PPV), an event the company has been promoting as its biggest show of the year, considering how many fans are slated to be in the building. It’s an all hands on deck kind of show.

They may not actually have all hands available, however.

That’s according to PW Insider, who say Sasha Banks is not backstage at Friday Night SmackDown this week and there’s at least some word going around that she was pulled from her scheduled match against Bianca Belair for the SmackDown women’s championship at SummerSlam. Belair, for her part, is in the building.

Initial concern over the status of this match came about when both wrestlers missed this past weekend’s house show loop. Those concerns were allayed when both were reportedly cleared for their title match.

Now, it seems that may not be the case.

We can hope there’s nothing to this, of course, especially considering the fact there aren’t many good backup options who have been built up anywhere near Banks’ level. We’ll likely know exactly what’s going on by the end of SmackDown later on this evening.

Stay tuned.
