The match

3MB explodes at SummerSlam as Drew McIntyre goes to war with biker Jinder Mahal. The deck is stacked against the heel, with Mahal’s henchmen being banned from ringside, and McIntyre allowed to bring out his giant sword.

The story

Jinder Mahal didn’t receive enough love from former 3MB stablemate Drew McIntyre during the latter’s reigns as WWE champion over the last year. Mahal decided to pay Drew back by stealing and destroying his giant flame-generating sword named Angela. But the tables were turned when Drew revealed that the sword he carries with him to the ring is always a replica. Mahal and his cronies stole a worthless object, leaving Drew to pulverize Jinder’s motorcycle and sell some toys.

Those antics didn’t sit well with Jinder, Veer, or Shanky, so they screwed Drew over during the Men’s Money in the Bank ladder match, taking away his dream of once again becoming the WWE champion. But they should have known better than to piss off McIntyre. Over the next few weeks, Drew proceeded to Claymore Jinder’s lawyer and threaten to murder Jinder with his (replica?) sword. McIntyre has spent the last few weeks defeating Veer and Shanky on Raw, getting them banned from ringside at SummerSlam.

Unless Jinder has a third henchmen hanging around who is even taller than Shanky, things aren’t looking so good for the heel here. The only way Mahal wins is if WWE is just so desperate to find something for Drew to do outside of the WWE championship scene that they feel the need to stretch this one out for another month. That feels completely unnecessary though. Because let’s face it, not too many fans would even blink an eye if this turned out to be a squash match in Drew’s favor.
