Raw Tag Team championship match
AJ Styles & Omos have reigned since WrestleMania 37, but they face a big threat from the reunited RK-Bro on Sat., Aug. 21 in Las Vegas.
The Road to SummerSlam
While Riddle was pining away for his beloved Randy, he got involved with Viking Raiders. Erik & Ivar had just come up short in an attempt to take the Tag belts from Styles & Omos at Money in the Bank, and Bro helped them earn another title shot on the July 26 Raw. The Raiders couldn’t get the job done there either, but The Phenomenal One & his giant friend decided to make Riddle pay.
Omos broke his scooter, the distraction cost him a match against Johnny Moist, and the champs kicked his butt.
It was enough to get fans chanting for the return of Randy Orton. But when that finally happened on Aug. 9, Orton did pick up a win over Styles. But the rest of it didn’t quite go the way folks shipping The Stallion and The Viper hoped it would.
The heartbreak continued on the go home, with Randy abandoning Riddle as Styles picked the bones of the duo he dubbed “RK-No”. But when Bro made the save while Omos was dismantling Orton, he earned the Legend Killer’s respect. They hugged it out, and now turn their attention to winning the belts at SummerSlam.
What to watch for
Omos has been extremely well-protected throughout his main roster run, but that has to end sometime. Is a crowd-pleasing title change the way to finally see the big man go down? He’s the guy in this one who’s never taken Orton’s iconic finish. Selling it well could actually do a lot to convince viewers he’s ready to work more singles matches.
Question is, will Randy deliver the move? Or will it be his best Bro?
We’ll find out tomorrow night... unless the AJ & Omos express keeps rolling.
