Sasha Banks & Bianca Belair miss WWE’s weekend events due to ‘unforeseen circumstances’

Sasha Banks & Bianca Belair took part in the main event segment of SmackDown on Friday night (Aug. 13) in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Their contract signing for SummerSlam’s SmackDown Women’s title match broke down, with Banks, Carmella & Zelina Vega attacking the champ.

The ESPY Award winners were advertised for the weekend’s house shows - Saturday in Charlotte, North Carolina, and Sunday in Columbia, South Carolina. But in both cases, the fans in attendance were informed Banks & Belair would not appear. The reason given was “unforeseen circumstances”.

In addition to hoping both wrestlers and their families are okay (for whatever it’s worth, Belair’s husband Montez Ford did not work either of this weekend’s shows either), speculation has focused on the status of their WrestleMania rematch this Saturday night in Las Vegas. PWInsider says they’ve spoken to several WWE sources who are concerned the bout will have to be pulled from the SummerSlam card, but stressed nothing has been confirmed.
