WWE SummerSlam 2021 match card, rumors

The next pay-per-view (PPV) on the WWE schedule is the SummerSlam show set to take place on Sat., Aug. 21, 2021. For the first time since 1992, the show will be held in a football stadium. In this case, it’s where the Raiders make their home at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada.

We’re less than a week out from showtime, and the card is all but full up:

  • Roman Reigns (c) vs. John Cena (Universal championship)

Cena came back, he says, to take on the most protected guy in the business. Reigns is trying to eradicate the missionary position.

  • Bobby Lashley (c) vs. Goldberg (WWE championship)

Goldberg is allowed to simply walk out when he wants, say “you’re next,” and whomever he said it to has to wrestle him.

  • Nikki A.S.H. (c) vs. Charlotte Flair vs. Rhea Ripley (Raw women’s championship)

This has very much been a program all about Nikki and Charlotte, and Ripley has just sort of been hanging around.

  • Bianca Belair (c) vs. Sasha Banks (SmackDown women’s championship)

Banks took a few months off after losing the title to Belair, and has returned to try to win it back.

  • The Usos (c) vs. The Mysterios (SmackDown tag team championship)

Simply a rematch from the last show.

  • Edge vs. Seth Rollins

A personal feud they’ve built out quite nicely on the back of Rollins not being happy about Edge getting a title shot over him, deserving be damned.

  • Sheamus (c) vs. Damian Priest (United States championship)

After weeks and weeks of picking on Humberto Carrillo, Sheamus will defend his title against Damian Priest.

  • Drew McIntyre vs. Jinder Mahal

The old stablemates go to war over a sword.

That’s eight matches, and considering time constraints it’s hard to imagine they book any more. The only other rumored match is RK-Bro vs. AJ Styles & Omos for the Raw tag team titles.
