The big hook for the Aug. 16, SummerSlam go home edition of Raw is a face-to-face between WWE title foes Bobby Lashley and Goldberg.
Pretty standard stuff, and we don’t know what will spring from the segment. But it’s a feud that started with the WWE Hall of Famer coming out and getting in the champ’s face. Two weeks later... Bill came out and got in Bob’s face. Now, five days before they get in each other’s faces at SummerSlam, they’re going to have a face-to-face.
It’s not quite as overused as “opportunity”, but I wish WWE would come up with a different name for these segments. I haven’t even mentioned the John Cena/Roman Reigns face-to-face we got on last night’s SmackDown, or the Adam Cole/Kyle O’Reilly and Karrion Kross/Samoa Joe face-to-faces NXT’s offered up on the road to TakeOver 36.
In addition to Goldberg and Lashley’s faces being close to each other’s, WWE’s announced a couple actual matches for Monday night:
- Randy Orton will battle Omos in a follow-up to the Viper’s win over AJ Styles last week. We should also get more of Orton’s tumultuous relationship with Riddle here, and probably a SummerSlam match for the Raw Tag titles booked between Rated RKBro and AJ & Omos.
- After their SummerSlam match was announced, Jinder Mahal will send his muscle at Drew McIntyre. The King of Claymore Country goes against Veer & Shanky in a handicap match. If McIntyre wins, The Modern Day Maharajah won’t be allowed to have his guys ringside on Saturday night in Vegas.
Ready to get face-to-face with that line-up for Raw?
