A lot of expectant mothers step away from pro wrestling/sports entertainment shortly after announcing they’re pregnant. Not Candice LeRae.
LeRae, who along with husband Johnny Gargano revealed yesterday (Aug. 12) that their first child is due early next year, actually hasn’t been doing a lot of in-ring work lately anyway. She’s been a constant television presence on NXT, but as the matriarch of her & Gargano’s found family stable, The Way.
Mrs. Wrestling specifically mentioned her “daughter” Indi Hartwell in some extended comments about the happy news on her Instagram (poor Austin Theory... no wonder he ran away from home). Locker room leader Candice also just generally wants to be around the women she mentors on the black-and-gold brand, too.
Hartwell’s made it pretty clear she doesn’t need any “protection” from Johnny & Candice as she embarks on her relationship with Dexter Lumis. But a girl always needs her mother, even when they’re not on the same page.
We’ll see what LeRae’s role is on Tuesday nights over the next few months. And congrats again to her & Johnny!
