205 Live is done worrying about the whole ‘205’ thing

WWE.com

In our latest sign of the WWE Performance Center being re-focused onto the development of bigger, younger wrestlers, 205 Live is officially waiving the weight limit that gives the show its name... at least “occasionally”.

The announce comes from the WWE.com preview for the episode that premieres tonight (Aug. 13) on Peacock, which will feature a not-cruiserweight clash between Joe Gacy and Josh Briggs.

The purple brand will now occasionally play host to matches where one or multiple Superstars eclipse the 205-pound weight limit, setting the stage for a colossal main event between Gacy and Briggs!

It’s not terribly surprising - even without reports Vince McMahon has reminded everyone in his company he’s not looking for small Superstars. 205 Live has been floundering for a while now (some might argue since not long after it launched in 2016). If it weren’t for international television contracts and the general desire of every media company to crank out as much #content as possible, it probably would have gone away by now.

This feels like the first step to an eventual rebranding, but we’ll see.

Who’s tuning in for this occasional 205 Live hoss fight tonight?
