Bayley was one of WWE’s MVPs of the pandemic (I’d nominate her along with Sasha Banks, Asuka, Drew McIntyre, Bobby Lashley and, well, MVP for the honor). She filled a lot of time with her heel character, and found different ways to be entertaining even as the story around her changed.
Now, just as the company is getting ready to head back out on the road and perform in front of live fans, this happens:
BREAKING NEWS: @itsBayleyWWE has suffered an injury while training and will be out approximately nine months.— WWE (@WWE) July 9, 2021
A replacement for her match against @BiancaBelairWWE at #MITB will be announced tonight on #SmackDown.https://t.co/qLsf8KTHNp
Pretty much everything WWE put on their website is in the tweet. We don’t know how she was hurt or the nature of her injury. She was building to her “I Quit” match with Bianca Belair last Friday (July 2) on SmackDown, and was active on social media during this Tuesday’s NXT.
We’ll see if we hear anything more about what happened to the Role Model tonight on the last live show from ThunderDome when we find out who will replace her at Money in the Bank.
UPDATE: PWInsider says “the word making the rounds” is that Bayley tore her ACL at the Performance Center earlier this week.
