Is this the first ‘You’ve got to beat me to date my surrogate daughter’ match in wrestling history?

The saga of star-crossed lovers Indi Hartwell & Dexter Lumis stretches back to February. The Tortured Artist kidnapped The Way’s Austin Theory, and Johnny Gargano & Candice LeRae’s other “child” started returning Lumis’ long stares.

Therapy didn’t work. Forbidding Hartwell to see him didn’t work. Now, with their family on the brink of falling apart after Theory ran away from home, Papa John has agreed to head to the ring to put a stop to the whole #InDex thing.

Will this be the end of heroine’s dream (spoilers are here, if you can’t wait until next Tuesday to find out)? Why won’t Mom & Pop Wrestling just give Dex a chance? And is this the first “You’ve got to beat me to date my surrogate daughter” match in wrestling history?

It’s one of four matches announced for the Aug. 3 NXT, which will again air on SyFy due to Olympics coverage on USA:

- Johnny Gargano vs. Dexter Lumis in a “Love Her or Lose Her” match

- Bobby Fish vs. Roderick Strong

- Joe Gacy vs. Trey Baxter in the final first round match of the Breakout Tournament

- Legado del Fantasma (Raul Mendoza & Joaquin Wilde) vs. Hit Row (Top Dolla & Ashante Thee Adonis)

Lovers of romance & wrestling won’t want to miss this one!
