When Samoa Joe first came back to NXT, he did so as an enforcer for General Manager William Regal. The idea was he wouldn’t wrestle but could get physical if he was provoked. That led to his setting up no less than three compelling matches.
Now, one of those matches is going to happen.
Indeed, Joe went all in on NXT TV this week: he asked Regal, who was attacked by NXT Champion Karrion Kross last week and therefore more agreeable to such things, to sign a resignation letter as a member of management. That happened. Then he asked Regal to sign a letter making him a member of the active roster. That happened too. Finally, he asked Regal to sign a contract booking Joe vs. Kross for the NXT championship at TakeOver 36 on Aug. 22, 2021.
That also happened.
With Kross having been called up to the main roster last week, one might think this will be where he drops the title. As mentioned previously, Joe has multiple matches lined up against the likes of Adam Cole and Pete Dunne.
Stay tuned.
The current NXT TakeOver 36 card:
- Karrion Kross (c) vs. Samoa Joe (NXT championship)
- Walter (c) vs. Ilja Dragunov (NXT UK championship)
